That goal in fact the whole Burnley performance is a real template for what we want to see from City next season, well worth watching again these highlights
Windass for me, spectacular goal and got us to the PL for the first time. One of my best nights ever.
Windass. Just feels different somehow. Perhaps I couldn't quite believe we were even at Wembley playing for a massive prize. It closed a chapter and began a journey into the unknown. This time I feel I know a bit more of the journey. Watching that clip I now see how Windass ambled towards the box as we attacked...either knackered or aware hanging back was good policy. Not spotted that before.
Windass because his was on the volley. Deano's goal vital to the history of our club (as in first time we got to PL) but Diame's vital for the future of the club in terms of keeping the squad together and financial viability. We'd have been screwed if we'd lost to the Wendies, whereas if we'd lost to Brizzle, we'd just have had another crack at the Championship with Brownie in charge.
The home match against Burnley really summed up our season . We were crap , and so were Burnley , during the 1 st. half but very good in the 2 nd. We have been like Jeckyl and Hyde all season , and you want that to be the template for next season . Next season we need to be consistently better than this season just to have chance of staying up .
Deanos goal was the best and the most important goal ever scored by Hull City . Quick break from defence , lovely assist and vision , the goal still had to be scored and was duly despatched into the only spot that was not covered by a Bristol player .
Burnley are the type of team we need to be putting away next season and we did that ruthlessly efficiently with all the team contributing, thats why these highlights are a good template- you can see Diame picking passes, Hernandez finishing ruthlessly, Clucas/Snodgrass interlinking and both making intelligent plays, Meyler working hard- I don't agree we were crap first half either, or them (playing cautiously away) in fact I would say we were sat too deep, and Bruce learnt from that too in the second half which was our best display of the season taking into account the opposition.
head says windass. heart says windass. liver says windass. kidney says windass. all me bits and pieces says windass. all correct.
Deano, for the fact it took us where no man had gone before! Well Hull City a way. The fact it was also scored by one of our own, but also the fact the actual volley was ****ING AWESOME makes it Deanos by a country mile.
Why are people bringing emotion and significance into it? Surely the question was purely a technical one?
Both absolutely top drawer goals especially on the occasion they where scored in but for me Deano's was slightly better as people have already said the build up for both goals was good but the way Deano just sauntered into the space with no one within yards of him and FC looked up and pinged it on a sixpence for him to Kaboom!!! Volley GET !!! and then tears followed. Still gives goosebumps. Diame's though we deserved that from the way we where playing. and the way Mo took his chance was bloody spectacular. He certainly proved his quality for nearly the whole game. Result for me ... Deano's because at that time I had never had that utter feeling of elation that goal caused, everything from the local lad to being the first time in the Prem. It just doesn't for me get any better than that. BUT Oh my god Diame you bloody diamond. Two goals of that quality from little old Hull tin pot City GET!!! the **** in!!!!
Deano but he said himself that he'd been practising volleys that morning and none had come off. Most of the time that would have gone in row z.
But it didn't .... It nearly ripped the back of the net out and changed our club forever. The magnitude of that goal was imminence for Hull City. Had he not scored it I doubt very much that Diame would have been with us to score his.
in terms of the match, we outplayed Wednesday more that we outplayed Bristol City, although both opponents were fairly impotent on the day Wembley record Pl 4 W 3 D 0 L 1 Goals F 9 A 6 (+3) quite a fortress!!
Deano. It is worth pointing out that considering the amount of flak Campbell gets on here sometimes, Deano's goal would not have been possible without Campbell's run into the box and fantastic pass to Deano.
