Of course it does, if any of us were offered £20-40k extra by another employer can you honestly say you wouldn't be tempted. Although I am my employer so that would be awkward I do hope that the lack of announcement is cause for hope .
Probably waiting to see what Leicester come back with or if any other clubs pitch in with an extra £10k!!
perhaps it means that he is making his own mind up. he is a big fish in a small pond that is his perfect environment. Mrs V is our top WAG and the top WAG in the city . The city isn't full of paps so she can go about her business with out too much hassle. This is the one and only chance the lad has to cash in. With us or else where (we would all jump jobs if the cash was right) hope the lad does what is right for him, i would like to think that's what keeps him here.
I recently got offered £8k more a year by one of our schools rivals and jumped ship without a second thought. He is being offered around £40k more a WEEK and has, in some eyes, achieved all he can at the club. Tbh I hope he doesn't but I think I'd go
Vardy has changed his twitter profile pic to this today Obviously it means very little but it would be strange to do it if he is on the verge of leaving
Apparently our offer to Vardy blows Arsenal's out the water. Which is why we managed to stop him signing for Arsenal over the weekend
Arsenal are expecting Vardy to stay after he didnt phone Arsene Wenger like he said he would Andy King has also said all the players have been ringing Vardy telling him to stay
I hope we haven't offered a 29 year old turning 30 a stupid contract on massive wages for a long time. If he goes to ****, injured or we get relegated it could be the worse thing we ever did and ruin the club. Obviously I hope he says but he isn't worth risking the squad balance
ffs ...forget the money ..do you think Ibrahimovic will play for United for the sheer joy of having a red shirt with Chevrolet on it? ... Vardy will be at the peak of his game for the next 3 years .. well worth the 'investment' by billionaire owners ..we have arrived at the top table ...the test now is to stay there ...and we have the financial clout to make a good fist of that ...thank you King Power...
Worth remembering Vardy is a very young 29 year old. He has only been playing for 4 years professionally so he doesnt have many miles in his legs compared to a 30 year old Wayne Rooney who has been playing professionally for over 15 years Trust the owners. They have never let us down
Missing out on European football and dropping down the league...why? Probably for the same reason as your new fat ginger bloke...£££££££
@johncrossmirror Arsenal braced for disappointment in bid for Jamie Vardy. Silence is deafening. They are not interested in Mahrez
No we can't - FFP states we can't spend more then our income and our income is (relatively) bugger all and we will definitely be made an example of. Also we could bugger ourselves up financially in the long run like Leeds.
I hope he stays but not at the detriment of the clubs long term viability. Once this is settled we than still have Mahrez and Kante to deal with. This is going to be a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggg transfer window.
Even if he does say no, it won't be the end of it - needs to sign a new contract to remove that clause.
I do agree, we haveto prepare for an average prem wage structure, think we are currently in a good place at the lower end of the leagues average, article says around £57m a year atm. Though saying that, CL money gives us a bit of wriggle room this year, so if we were to use that to offset the wage structure in order to keep out better players, i don't see too much problem with it. For example, if we were ok with Vardy being on £80k (his new contract) which likely takes the increase in TV revenue into account, giving him the extra £40k a week (reported £120k) would be £8m extra over 4 years. If we were to do the same with Mahrez and Kante, thats £24m they would receive extra in wages between them. Though this method may have a serious effect on the teams morale and we'd be one of those clubs that has "star players" on a fair amount more than the rest. ... i've confused myself, though in summary, i think the club has a choice ... a) Increase current wage structure and not make any huge signings, keeping the core together, or b) Keep the wage structure as it is, let those wanting higher wages go and put the funds into trying to lure some of the higher priced players (Musa and Slimani could cost £45m in transfer fees alone)
Man City and Chelsea have been paying mega wages for years based on crowds of 40,000 ... and lucrative sponsorhip deals from their owners Man United, Liverpool and others are heavily debt funded yet still manage to pay out huge wages ... Any club with multi-millionare / billionaire business owners can effectively laugh in the face of FFP ... There is no valid comparison to Leeds United ... they never had any money ... Ridsdale mortgaged everything including his own granny on a one-off gamble that fell short ... (if they had actually won the Champions League it might just have paid off) We have no debt ... we have billionaire owners ... we had millions of people in the far east celebrating our success ... expect to see some very chunky sponsorship deals and commercial income and sponsorships being generated throughout the world on the power of the King Power brand ...
