I think they probably just wanted to help avoid calls from journalists. The last time this happened one outlet - was it the Mirror? - actually ran the story and the FA said afterwards "all you had to do was ask and we'd have told you they were fake". edit - hang on, why is the football league tweeting about PL fixtures being fake? It happens every year. Its really boring and / or pathetic.
I understand the PL tweeting obvs, just seems a bit weird the FL getting involved. Unless there were bogus FL fixtures released too.
Your post could be a hoax in response to the Football League's statement which may or may not have been a hoax which in turn was made to rebuke the fixture list which is definitely a hoax. Or not.
Sunderland away on boxing day would be great as the stadium of light is the juniors fav ground visited for some reason
