Correct. You can not tell the whole truth, but once RK said he wasn't interested in Everton and he had a years to go which he intended to honour he dug a hole. Even had he simply said "I don't want ot talk about Everton." he could have got away with it.
Honesty is complicated. A lie is something we say knowing it to be untrue. Our future actions don't make it a lie in retrospect. If I tell you it is not raining and it is, but I believe it is not, then I am telling a false truth - not a lie. If I say I am not going out tonight, then someone phones me up with a great offer and I do go out, then that wasn't a lie either. I suspect Koeman did believe he as staying last week. Therefore he didn't lie. However, he has been tempted by big money, and we can say he lacks integrity as he has changed his position. However, has he ever been knowingly dishonest? Who cares? Two-faced Dutch prick!
Welcome Craig. I'll be the annoying one and point out that Koeman took us into the European places in his first season with a depleted squad and less funds than he will get at Everton. Also I'm not so sure about the 'ageing' squad thing either. Plenty of quality youngsters there.
Ok, not saying this is gospel but thought I'd share. My brother was at St Mary's this morning getting a few bargains in the club shop. Said the rumours are that RK and EK cleared their desks and said there goodbyes yesterday afternoon. Club are looking to keep continuity with Sammy and Barbie Ken etc, and this will be part of the deal with incoming manager. Nothing surprising there, but hopefully getting closer to some closure?
So it's obvious now that we need a childish nickname for our latest escapee. I'd like to suggest Ronald Poo-man.
Valid points, I grant you. If I was the presenter of match of the day though, I'd be making a promise to present it in a mankini if they make europe next season. Thankfully I'm not.
I would have thought Martinez has been found out, especially defensively. To take a side with Coleman, Stones, Barkley and Lukaku to 11th should show that he is not quite top half material. Weren't they similar in terms of performances to Liverpool when he took over?
Funny story on AVB. I had an interview at Chelsea a few years back as a graphic designer for their tactical team - Jose who was manager then was a big fan of using graphics and stuff. And the head of media (who was managed by AVB at Chelsea) confessed that AVB is a HUGE Football Manager fan. Uses it loads apparently. There's your interesting fact of the day.
Really, the only thing to happen in the last 10 hours is that de Telegraff conforming the compo at €5mn? Can we please hurry up and make this all official?
Looking at the Everton squad, budget etc I'm absolutely delighted that we tied van dijk and forster to long term contracts. Not saying they would have gone but they may well have been targets one and two.
AVB isn't a bad shout. Must not forget Chelsea had to cough up £15m to get him,(really good at Porto). Did well at Spurs and Zenit. Also no chain involved as he isn't attached to any club at mo.= no compo package to pay.
You'd imagine any part of the clubs deal with Everton was that they wouldn't be able to purchase our players this Summer.
For once I'm not actually that upset, not joining in the meltdown. We have the ability to attract a very good manager, good squad, europa league etc. Only wanyama is a cert to leave. Who wants Pelligrini?
One thing I have felt for the last 2 years is that our positions have been slightly false. We often haven't played particularly great football but the results have generally been good. I've always tried to hide the fact that under Poch we used to blow teams away and the season we had under his guidance there were games where we looked generally unbeatable. Am I alone on this?
We have blown a few teams away this season but more importantly we have ground out results. That is not just luck but the sign of a good team. Great teams don't blow away every PL team, that doesn't happen. Them win a few amazing games, an occasional cricket score and lots of gritty 1-0 wins.
Part of the carrot being dangled is that Everton are to build a new stadium........don't know why but I have a feeling he won't be there by the time it is built.......be it sacked or to chase more money elsewhere.
