I agree, but it does / did nothing to help the club's short-term plan which was clearly to survive in the top flight last season. Loads of talented youth, all out on loan at lower league sides may well bode well for the future, say 2 or 3 years down the line, but what about the here and now?

"when the international transfer window opens on June 9th" ? Sorry, I thought there was one universal (European) transfer window and that opens on 1st July. Why are we not utilising this apparent transfer loophole? I demand that at least 6 players are signed by the 10th June with appropriate departures to far flung outposts of the European football empire. Russ to Belaruss for example.

If we got about 8M for Johnson, I would put that back into getting him! Young, potential, set-piece master, which is what we have missed for so long. I'd love to see us go big for him.

 

I'd be happy with him too, though I can't believe we'll get him. That said he and Bamford may believe that to get the games that they need at this stage of their careers a promotion hopeful championship club maybe their best bet. If he wasn't being played by WBA there are not many clubs between us and them in the pecking order, really only the newly promoted.

I can see maybe Bournemouth going for him. I think he'd be a great fit for them with their transfer policy.

A reasonable enough rumour though I can't see us getting him, I can't quite see Barca being in for him though. The sort of player we should I guess be looking at, a prospect who hopefully could get up to English footies speed in the championship before hopefully being able to cut the mustard in the PL. Can we really be more appealing than Club Brugge and any other suitors? And after Wolfy, should we be wary of young Dutch prospects? Apparently (He says pinching some salt)
