As we're historically known as a fishing port, it's not that odd that many people think we're on the coast.
Hopefully the best thing about promotion is that it means a new owner I'm still not convinced it will, but I hope those that think it will are right I do think it's good for the City of Culture stuff too, even if only for their marketing
I am looking forward to us having our highest ever finish. I think reaching the cup final derailed our league form two years ago.
All the new & returning posters will be a treat, swapping tales of Torquay etc. Have any showed up yet?
Supported City for 40 years, but only seen us in 2 Premier League games !! So now I am back in England I might get to watch a few more
I read that as "Have any showered yet?" TBF, I dont think any plastics would have disappeared unless we'd have fallen through the chumpionship trapdoor.
It is an example of the ignorance of the much of the country about Hull. Historically that goes back to the descriptions given during WW2 so the Germans were kept in the dark about which cities had received particular damage.
It is mine too. The downside is the availability of tickets particularly for away games so I tend to go less live games in the Prem. Last season including Wembley I went to 10 away games. We won 8 of those, I only saw us lose at Birmingham and Burnley 1:0.
The biggest problem is that a lot of clubs, with larger followings than us and therefore less chance of tickets, manage to find most have ended up with fans who really get behind the team. Whilst we ended up with a lot of people who wanted to sit down and wave to the big PL stars, take videos of them and expected everyone else to sit down so their view of the stars wasn't interrupted. Not a problem in the Championship but it will be in the PL.
The year we got to the FA Cup final we stayed up with relative ease. Last year when we went down we went out of the Cups in the 1st game. This year we had a very good League Cup run and a good FA Cup run and got promoted. Not sure we can blame cup runs.
Finishing 17th & having no ambition to do anything else. Then go celebrate it like we've won a cup final.
Anyone remember those two american college kids who turned up after the last promotion as they'd draw "Hull" in a sweep stake or something. One said he was going to be a die hard City fan from now on through thick and think. The other said he'd give us a go for a bit but only if we played attacking free flowing football. I don't think either made the second week.
can you blame em really? hardly end to end stuff. sitting deep and pulling attackers off? defending a 1 - 0 lead. inspirational!
