I've spoken to the guy and he seems a nice enough fella- but in this scenario he is more dangerous because not only is he stubborn, he also thinks he's clever. He's essentially a bored son who doesn't want to run the family business. Running a football club is a lot more sexy and high profile after all.
He might be totally different in what he choses to do. I'm not convinced his abilty to run a club will change much. The fact that we are in May, and the number of players we have who are out of contract is testament to that for me. That's on Ehab's watch.
Geraghty's only consideration is that his beloved FC are kept safe by the KC arrangements. If that means holding City back he couldn't give a ****. After all when Hull got the City Of Culture no mention of the only PL club in Yorkshire or any football club at all. His comment was visitors would be able to see what a great sporting city Hull was. Not only did Hull people love their rugby league they liked their darts and wrestling as well. Good luck dealing with someone with that mindset.
From what I understand Bruce admires Allam Snr but there is a mutual dislike between him and Ehab. Which won't have been helped by the Gray goings on.
I genuinely don't know That's not an area I have any dealings It was more a general point about not be overly critical of the council staff. They're doing some good work
I was involved in a meeting with the council, specifically to discuss the options with regard to the KC and Geraghty wasn't invited.
Most things evolve, even councils. The opportunity has been there for a long time for someone with the skill and funds to exploit it. I very much doubt new investors would need the advice of Carey, as there is more than sufficient history surrounding the Allams to steer a more prudent approach in dealing with local government. They have (had) ample time to conduct a thorough due diligence, so when a sale does go through it should be hugely beneficial to club and city alike. Staying in the PL will be vital, so Bruce will go.
You mean Geraghty who runs the arms length leisure company. There is little to no ****ing chance of anything happening. Adam Pearson was as frustrated with the council as AA, just had better PR.
Exactly and a joint venture is the only offer the council will give. Even then they'd drag their heels over that, highly suspicious of profit being made by an investor.
Who controlled the Cabinet during the time Pearson ran the SMC? I think it was the Liberals, even when it was under no overall control.
You mean like this? http://www.hullcc.gov.uk/portal/page?_pageid=221,674011&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL&p_id=5142
One question. Why havent Swansea with 6 years of PL success under their belt still not bought their ground off their Council? People make out its easy, ye just throw 20 million quid at em and it'll be reet. Ye thats the way business' think isnt it. Then spend another 20 million increasing the capacity and then tickets should be 100 quid a season for ever more.
You keep posting this, but it's bollocks, it's definitely for sale if they get even a half decent offer. The council is currently trying to raise £40m for a new music venue, if they can get half that money by selling a stadium that generates absolutely no revenue, they'll jump at it.
Swansea started negotiations to buy the stadium last year, but they've been put on hold while the ownership situation is sorted.
The only quote which you always like to ignore is from Brady. It would go to a vote of tax payers. How do you see that going?? Terry ****wit would be all over the papers banging the drum. FC wouldnt want it to happen. Why would Swansea need to negotiate, just slap 20 million down and job done whats to negotiate? They should have done that after one season the ****ing deadheads.
That's because you misunderstand me. The new owners don't need to buy the freehold they just need to fund the development of the KC and surrounding area then collect the income from what's built. They would look to other sports that attractpublic funding, such as swimming, hockey, basket ball, even trampolining, etc. They would look at building and leasing other businesses, hotels, restaurants, shops, conference centres etc. If you look at the interview with Gregory Carey its what he does all over the US, very successfully. On a more limited scale it's what the City Council did with Keepmoat and Sewells. Its not rocket science. It just needs two to tango.
