As a very big day approaches, I have thought back over my association with Hull City AFC, otherwise known as 'The Tigers'. I intend to fully enjoy the whole weekend and not be pulled down by anyone else's negatives and the whole nonsense that has enveloped our wonderful club for too long; I want my team to win and win well, with style and dignity. I am convinced they will. My thought is that I can look back and thank my late Granddad Fred and My late Uncle Edgar for introducing me to and taking me to Boothferry Park, when my dad was busy catching fish. It was wonderful then and will be wonderful again for a new generation. I dedicate the fun and experience I will enjoy this weekend to them, Fred and Edgar. UTT Who are your Hull City heroes?
As much as I harp on about my old man being a supporter of TWS, he is the reason I'm into Hull City, he took me to Boothferry Park and the KC for many years. Even though you support Leeds, you're still a legend. A bit of a prat for supporting them, but still a legend.
My dad who took me to my first game ever. My Mac Nurse and all staff on ward 33 castle hill and all at scarborough Mac Unit My Great Friend Mary who has been a Star The last 7 years. Win or Lose i will have a Great Day
My dad for buying me my first season ticket, my grandad for bollocking me for coming home with a west brom shirt I had won and Roy Carroll for giving me the belief to have a go at being a footballer.
Big Ozzy Winfield who sadly died this year and also Graham Ollett. I followed City with those two man and boy. Also Nick Walker who also sadly died recently, spent many an hilarious away day with Nick. All three were huge characters and died far too young and all three were as staunch supporters of Hull City as you will ever find. If anyone would love a day out at Wembley watching Hull City in a Final it is those lads. They will be in my thoughts.
My dad. He took me to my first game in the early seventies and until his health failed him this last couple of years, we always went together. He's the reason I won't be at Wembley on Saturday. It just wouldn't feel right to go without him, so we'll watch the game on the telly, together as ever. This for you Dad x
That's exactly the same for me. Felt quite bad about the FA Cup game when he couldn't go, felt weird not being with him, and being with my football hating witch (although she enjoyed it). I just hope he doesn't ****ing bang on about Mourhino too much during the game.
Sorry to hear your Dad's unwell Happy. Mine made it with me to the FA cup final, but I've only managed to get him to one game since.
He's not that unwell, he's just getting old and not in the shape he used to be, being less mobile now. He can still complain like a goodun though, hopefully its not about how we're playing!
Firstly to my Grandad. He passed away when I was only 2 years old so I barely knew him. But I do know he was a dedicated City supporter for many decades, going back to before the war. And of course to my late Dad, without whom I'd never have been a City supporter. Passed away completely unexpectedly just 4 months after we were promoted in 2013, (and he did actually post on Not606 for a while). Also, it would have been his 70th birthday this weekend too so promotion would be a brilliant way to mark that.
My Dad never took me to games, but did tell me that he used to go years ago, so it got me interested in Hull City, then I decided to start supporting them instead of the teams from Division 1. I never managed to get him to a game with me, but in 2014 when I was at Wembley he got to see us on TV. Sadly he died February, last year, so hopefully we'll be back up & it'll be for him! It's also his birthday on Friday too!
I rang my Gran when the players were coming out of the tunnel to tell her we were going to do this for my Grandad who never got to see top division football in Hull. My Gran passed the week before last so dedicating the day to her.
My late maternal grandad, who took me to my first game in '54 and got me hooked for a lifetime. Also my late father, who never went to watch City in his lifetime (he was a cricket fanatic mind), but he understood my passion as his father was a City fan. Last but not least, all the past, present and future Hull City AFC players, all of whom have, are and will continue to give me lots of pleasure and the occasional spattering of heartache. Oh aye...all Hull City fans wherever you may be or have been. UTT.
I suppose if you want to stretch it all the way back I could also be thankful to Dad for getting me into football in the first place. Took me out to the city to watch the 06 game between Australia and Italy on a big screen in Little Italy. Gave me the passion for the sport which culminated in me falling in love with Hull City.
Reading these dedications is moving and also makes me feel that we have lost our way in why we follow City. Our reasons we first went, who we went with for years and who are no longer with us. We encourage our kids to follow our team and in turn hopefully they will do the same. So to all that are no longer here and those we went with over the years this is for all of us from transit vans to trains to wembley we are Hull City
http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Stev...l-City-owner/story-29320783-detail/story.html just about sums Brucies attitude up - first of all the old man has only done a couple of minor things to upset the fans - and getting to the cup final is nothing - just a day to be enjoyed - utter pillock
