Personally I'd say the SNP's performance in the traditional heartland of Labour - Glasgow - was more indicative of the reality. A clean sweep of all the seats, wiping Labour out completely and leaving the Tories way behind, scratching for the few remaining votes.

Not to mention the indisputable fact that every one of the 24 Tory MSP's who won list seats was firmly rejected by the electorate in the constituency vote - most, in fact, overwhelmingly rejected. Small wonder there is clamour for a system change (from across the board, not simply the SNP) when a candidate can achieve 6% or less of the vote and still be elected ahead of others who polled far more strongly.

no - it's aberdeen. You'd have to be as mad as a Hatter to be a Tory supporter. :)

The expression 'Mad as a Hatter', apparently came from the fact that early hat makers were exposed to large quantities of Mercury - which led, in turn, to strange behaviour. Apparently the hat making industry was centred on Luton because it was presumed that they were so odd anyway that it wouldn't make any difference.

Isn't it funny how you can wait frustratedly for a bus then two turn up at almost the same time...

    http://www.thecanary.co/2016/05/17/...ations-electoral-fraud-2015-general-election/

It now seems that the FibDems are also guilty of fraud over last year's Election Battlebus expenses. With 24 Tory mp's, including Cameron, facing the possibility of jail sentences, there could be some interesting by-elections in the offing.

Its your lot that break the rules to the greatest extent...
Last night the SNP wrote to the Met Police asking them to investigate the Tories for failing to properly declare their election battle buses. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone…

Back during the election campaign, the SNP used a helicopter to fly Nicola Sturgeon around Scotland. This was declared as part of the SNP’s national spend, which would be fine so long as Nicola only used it for national campaigning, limited to talking about the SNP’s policies and why voters should back her party as a whole. Yet Sturgeon used her chopper specifically to campaign for local candidates as well – for example Peter Grant in Glenrothes, Stephen Gethins in North East Fife, and Drew Hendry in Inverness. The Electoral Commission tells Guido that if a party leader travels to campaign on behalf of a local candidate, some of the travel costs should be declared as local spend:

“If the travel promotes both the local candidate and national policies, then a portion of the cost of that bus should be allocated towards the candidate’s spending limit and a portion towards the party’s national spending limit.”

Sturgeon’s helicopter visited 12 constituencies and was used for local campaigning, so according to the rules some of the cost should have been declared as local spend. It wasn’t. Drew Hendry and Callum Kerr became MPs but would have bust their limits if they’d declared the chopper. Bold of them to call the cops…

    UPDATE: An SNP spokesman responds:

“Unlike the Tories the SNP did not transport and pay hotel costs for party activists in marginal seats. Transporting the party leader around the country is national campaign expenditure and the SNP correctly registered it as such with the Electoral Commission.”

But the Electoral Commission say that if a leader did any local campaigning, as Sturgeon did, the cost should be split…

Add in the degenerate sex scandals, expenses scandals you name it they are the dirtiest bunch of a bad breed!!!!

I don't understand Aberdeen. Before candidates can sit in the national parliament they have to win their own constituencies so there is no difference between 'local' and 'national' here. In a PR. system it would be different, but under the existing system even a PM. has to win his own constituency first - so where is the problem ?

Can anyone dish the dirt on the two SNP MP's coming to blows in a bar over their affairs with the same woman.

A bit of advice for that scumbag Hosie, a spot of fishing is a much safer activity for a person with very high blood pressure than cheating on your family and being finally caught.

What on earth does this type of thing have to do with politics - how many other people in other walks of life get bored and have extra marital affairs. Is there any man amongst us that has not been in the position of fancying 2 or more people at the same time ? Is there any woman who has also not been in this position ? Instead of muck raking about individual politicians we should be getting down to serious discussion of policies and content. Mercifully Jeremy corbyn appears to be one of the only ones about that has the dignity to steer away from personality politics.

I've been happily married for 44 years thanks, never thought once about cheating.

If they operated in France it would have possibly been ignored but even there two MP's brawling in public over the same woman would have produced some tasty headlines.

Is there not questions to answered on trust and misappropriation of public money?

I think you will find that the majority of MPs have far too large expense accounts SH. irrespective of party. If you are talking about a league of merit on expenses then surely you must place Jeremy Corbyn on top - because his are the lowest in Westminster :emoticon-0102-bigsm
