So it looks like a done deal. Will he bring back the glory glory Man Utd ? I'm pleased he's back in the premiership, he's a character and I like him, will, he be too much trouble for Utd though?
I like him to Bizarre, I know some Utd fans don't like the idea, but the guy will be a great fit. They need to come out of this "it has to be the Fergie way" of doing things. With Van Gaal they got pretty much that, a dour, no nonsense, disciplinarian guy with a great track record...but it didn;t work. Players respected and feared Fergie, I doubt that was the same with Van Gaal. Mourinho will be different, I can see him getting so much more out of the current crop of players and with a few additions I can see them being a force again.
Good for football hes a character. Good for Man U? We shall see. Wonder if there are any players there he doesnt like. Can pass them our way.
The Busby way Mourinho will never be welcome inside Old Trafford if he ignores our youth. If he can develop our young players he could be the next manager in our hall of fame. One thing is worth remembering here, regardless of last season, he is very probably the best manager in the world.
I think so, but would love to know what really happened at Chelsea to see someone fall from grace at such a pace. I guess we will never find out.
When you have a squad full of ego's it's always a possibility innit. I think he has to learn his lessons from that and keep those in mind when coming here.
So potentially the EPL is going to have Conte, Mourinho, Pep, Mazzari, Klopp, Rainieri, Wenger, Pochettinno, and BSA in it. Could be a good season.. now if only the best manager in the world had managed to take more than 2 points off of Villa, Norwich and Sunderland, we could have had Benitez showing the rest of them how to win a league... shame.
Get ready for the biggest media Bukkake job when Pep turns up, every game he wins, they'll **** over... It's going to be living hell.
To be fair Tel, Pep is also a great manager, He will do well over here I'm pretty sure. It helps that City have bottomless pits of cash, but he is a very good coach.
Man utd had to do something to counter the Pep Guardiolla effect and who better to take the limelight than Mourinho? Also Van Gaal was a let down in the end especially with the money he spent..
He's a very good manager, sure. The media talk as if he is the greatest ever, he's not. He's been blessed with hugely talented squads, one of which was probably the greatest club team of all time. He didn't build it. He inherited a CL winning team in Germany, all of it was Van Gaal and Heynkes' work and he come in and spent a load of money and improved them none. Right now I'd say he's shown that he's about half as good as Simeone.
He did spend a lot, but he didn't decide what we paid. Woodward decided that and he's an idiot of the highest order. Given how much he recouped though, plus brought through Rashford, Lingard and Fosu-Mensah and got De Gea tied to a new contract, I don't believe the deficit is that big.
In order for a lot of people to count Pep as one of the worlds greatest managers in the same bracket as SAF, Clough, etc he needs to build a team, no as you say inherit one with hugely talented players other coaches have built. He needs to go to a team like Sunderland and build that up, win trophies and constantly have SAFC in the CL. I use SAFC as an example, it will never happen. But with decades of playing Champ Man/FM even I could have won the CL with the Barcelona team he was gifted all those years ago.
Exactly. Maybe not Sunderland, but if he turned City into CL winners and dominated England and Europe I'd be the first to hold my hands up. He's not going to achieve that without an incredible amount of cash. They'll go for Neymar this summer at any price, we'll see the world record doubled if they have to, if he's willing to move.
I have Utd mates who have mixed feelings on Van Gaal and Mourinho. I just thought it was sad it came out immediately after the cup final. Let the manager enjoy his moment of success.
Aggreed that it looked terrible on the club especially a club like Man Utd that they couldn't let him at least celebrate winning the cup. Problem was though that it was the worst kept secret in football. I told my dad who supports man utd that he would be sacked in the morning. He didn't even get that long lol.
They were talking about it being his last game managing Utd as the team's were walking on to the pitch yesterday.
He just looked very unhappy in press conference when really it was a good achievement this season given their relative problems and he should have been beaming. (Not sure he actually can beam?)
Very unprofessional. Ed Woodward down to a T, the guy is the biggest failure in all of football history.
