Couldn't agree more with this post. Surprising people have raised an issue with network rail repairs over a bank holiday weekend - isn't that rather missing the point? The ****ers have Hull City Tigers all over the Ticketmaster web site, print out confirmation. They answer the phone Hull City Tigers bollox. If it's not deliberate to antagonise supporters / fans / customers / clients, they must be so incredibly dim to continue with this. And then the kick off at 5pm. Bastards
The first couple of virgin trains announced had 12 and 13 hour journey times for London to Hull. There was obviously a long sit on a draughty station. At least Hull trains had the honesty to wait until they had a realistic train journey to announce.
There were two others, they were mentoned later on the HDM site, albeit it not as virgin specials on there. Perhaps they saw the same message as so e one I know. It stuck in my mind because the HDM was after someone I know pointed out the travel times when they were looking at their options, and I thought it must have been a cock up or they'd misread it. They'd only looked on the travel site because of a message they'd had about the extra two virgin options. If I could be arsed I'd Google for the actual site they looked at.
If you looked on their web site at the time, instead of following selective snippets and gossip, you'd have known more.
They will also be able to get a 9.56pm train from Kings Cross to Hull with one change, although this would take 12 hours and 25 minutes; or the 10.10pm train from Kings Cross to Hull with three changes, which would take 13 hours 40 minutes. Fans have welcomed the news and took to Twitter to spread the word. One said: "Glad we actually have a decent company trying to look after us. Appreciate it." Aye, that was the HDM version , but it looks pretty much like it was cut and pasted from the travel site someone was asking me about before it appeared on there. It's academic, they've sorted a better one now.
That hasn't come from Virgin though, that just some daft sod going on trainline.com. It works like expedia, it will always give you a route, however ridiculous it is.
Oviously hdm got it elsewhere, but It wasn't train line or expedia I was looking at. I'm not really sure why it's seemingly an issue, but at least it got sorted in the end.
