Racing today comes from Goodwood, Newmarket, Doncaster, Thirsk, Hamilton, Lingfield and Galway.

The race of the day of course comes from Goodwood where the G1 Nassau Stakes over 10f takes place. In yet another race where numbers are thin on the ground, Midday looks to have the whip hand over Snow Fairy and Crystal Capella. (If Play Misty For Me doesn't start.) A five time G1 winner who might not be the force she once was, but should be in this up to her back teeth. Looking to make three straight wins in the Nassau.

    All naps and comments welcome.

    GOODWOOD.
    14:35 JOHN NIXON. Roughie.
    15:10 MIDDAY. cyc. <cracker> WON 6-4 <cracker>
    15:10 MIDDAY. RV. <cracker> WON 6-4 <cracker>
    15:45 MAC'S POWER. Filon. THIRD 13-2.

    NEWMARKER.
14:20 LAY TIME. Wooly Folly. Second 9-4.
    15:25 DEFY THE ODDS. Degs.

    DONCASTER.

    THIRSK.

    HAMILTON.

    LINGFIELD.

    GALWAY.
17:30 ROBIN ANGEVIN. Oddy. Second 11-8.

Good morning, Cyclonic- I hope you're doing some work and not just lazing on that Mooloolaba Beach!
Racing looks ridiculously difficult today, but here goes with some hopeful selections:

    2.05 Goodwood
Baby Strange. Ran a good race behind Hoof It last week, and has good each way prospects.
    Best Price..20/1 Corals

    2.35 Goodwood
Petara Bay. Ran a great race in The Northumberland Plate from a terrible draw. He should give a good account of himself today.
    Best Price 15/1 Betfair.

    3.45 Goodwood.
Doc Of The Bay. This seven year old is in the form of his life and, although most of his races have been at seven furlongs, his only two recent runs at 6 furlongs have produced two great efforts- beaten a couple of lengths by both Hoof It and Pastoral Player. He has a weight pull with both of these two and will be sticking on when others have cried enough.
    Best price 25/1 Corals

    2.55 Galway
Double Seven. This young hurdler hacked up last time and looks to have an outstanding chance. He should relish the step up in trip.
    Best price 10/1 Paddy Power.

Nah Tam, had the day off. Too many visitors on the weekend. You're right about the racing today. It'll take a good man to keep his money. Some nice prices among your selections though.

    Cyc: Good day to you:

3:45 Goodwood - Mac's Power (10/1 currently available in two or three places - whoops, 10/1 from yesterday evening gone, now 9/1 best price):

(Drawn extreme far side on the fence. In the old days (when it was a high-number draw) this used to be a plum barrier position for the race on fast ground. This is a good 6f horse and has a decent chance in this cavalry charge).

(Must dash, missus sending me out shopping............<yikes>).

GL today one and all! <ok>

On a day of almost impossible looking handicaps at Goodwood I've looked around for some shorties for a yankee:

    1.55 Thirsk Tahnee Mara 7/4
    2.25 Galway Natural High 4/5
    4.10 Thirsk Powerful Presence 9/2
5.30 Galway Robin Angevin (NAP NAP NAP) 5/4

    Good luck everybody <ok>

Better change my pick given your info Cats - I thought Defy The Odds might go close on debut as the dam won first time out but if the word on the street is that she will need the run then I'll steer clear <ok>

If Wakefield are on the edge Cats, what must not happen on the field in the next three years, if they are to survive?

    Morning all

not got time for big write ups - got footy soon. Will be on the following today

2.05 Goodwood - THUNDERBALL (12-1 BOG E.W) - Going the right way and hopeful of a big run despite a poor looking draw.

2.35 Goodwood - VERDANT (7-1 BOG) - Looks ready for this step up in trip and if suited by a first time visor should go really well here. Has won at this track in the past and should like the ground

3.10 Goodwood - MIDDAY (13-8 BOG - NAP) With Misty For Me now a non runner I can not see anything stopping Midday from completing a hattrick in this race.

3.45 Goodwood - TAX FREE (50-1 E.W NB) - Looks way overpriced at 50-1 - goes well at this track and although he hasn't been at his best this season he looks well treated off a mark of 94

2.45 Doncaster- WINKER WATSON (11-4 BOG) Looks to have recaptured some of his old form since returning to the track under the care of Mick Channon, this looks a good opening

5.50 Newmarket - HEZMAH (10-1 BOG E.W) - Looked a nice prospect when winning well on debut and has shaped better than next two results suggest, strong traveller and a mark of 85 doesn't look beyond her.

Degs - Cats has had a strong word for the Gosden horse in the 3.25 at Newmarket - supposed to be a beast and they reckon the Cecil filly will need the run
