I think it's time to take stock. Again Arsenal have flattered to deceive and I won't mince my words here, they have bottled it this season. It was the same old story in the league where they surrendered in March (even more spectacularly than in other years), in Europe they again did the coefficient no favours being on the receiving end of a last 16 pummeling for something like the 8th year in a row. There seems to be a pattern emerging and this could be said of every season Arsenal have had pretty much since the invincibles (who knew how to play for a point, let's be fair) decided to jump ship. Is it fair to put the blame of the decade of shame squarely on Wenger's shoulders ? Is it the players, who prefer selfies to trophies ? One thing is for sure the mentality at Arsenal isn't right. What do you folks reckon is the reason behind this ? Arsenal won't be able to move on until these hard hitting questions are answered.

I think the week mentality thing is a myth spouted about from pundits who repeat the same clichés every week about all teams. I think our problem is wenger isn't ruthless enough with the players who aren't quite up to the level

It has nothing to do with "mentality" in my opinion he just trusts players to much sometimes it works for him and sometimes it doesn't

It's not only mentality but the managers inability to see when a player is done. He could have sold many players and done somethig with the money but he keeps them until they are retirement age.

To my mind, and I've said this before, Arsenal's undoing is Wenger's blind arrogance. He simply refuses to counsel that he could be wrong. To outside eyes the deficits in Arsenal's play are clear. Yet Wenger can't, or won't see them.

He really should read Einstein's definition of stupidity!...

Compared to the other top clubs , Arsenal mentality is superior IMO . Man U , Man City , Chelsea and Liverpool should be in an institute.

They never replaced Viera with someone at least similar, so there's no real bite in them. They're a good side, but too full of show ponies, they need a proper work horse or 2.

Talk of biting and ponies, if only they'd offered more than £1 for Suarez, they would have got both!!

Why don't you tell us? Champions League place to hoping that Man Utd can drag you into the Europa.

It's pretty simply IMO - there are no huge personalities in the arsenal set up at the moment. vieira, Henry, Bergkamp etc just weren't replaced.

Exactly the same thing would have happened at Man Utd when Keane and Van Nistelrooy etc left were it not for the size of Ferguson's personality.

I just think Wenger does not have the same mental and psychological edge that Ferguson had, and therefore without his big hitters there is only so much he can do. The only way Wenger is winning the league is by signing huge, huge names to boost the playing squad.

PS - Exhibit A - Had he just manned up, coughed up the going rate, and paid 50/60 mill for Suarez, he would probably have another league or two to his name.....
