I wanted to win the game not just sit back. Bruce saw it as a defensive opportunity to hold them out and win the tie, but it's risky.
didn't realise when Bruce said this club does things the hard way on Saturday that it was a promise, not just an observation. Truly embarrassing performance that.
But they kept possession and passed well, they pushed us back; when we tried to get forward we just gave possession away. The comments about parking the bus from the off miss the quality that Derby threw at us. Saturday was the odd one out of 4 fixtures.
There was one particular galling moment in the match when we had a free kick and all the players ran forward leaving nobody to take it, I've never seen anything like it. Dawsons head was gone I thought too, definitely the worst I've seen him play for us, Davies deserves a lot of credit tonight for carrying him
I think you are right, you just get the feeling that one game was enough and maybe we have got away with it, even with winning 3-0
And we didn't keep possession or pass well, didn't press them at all, looked fatigued. You could probably argue Derby played better in the first leg than we did today, we really stood off them a lot, too much space on the wing.
Yes, Hughes was exceptional. If they had played him in that position in the home game they'd probably have beaten us. If we make the PL I'd be lobbing a bid in for him (I know he's been linked with PL clubs in the past) he's quality and kept the ball moving.
Who gives a crap really we are gonna Wembley. All the other 20 clubs would swap with us now. Burnley n Them boring ****ers from Boro hardly played that well they just battled their way up **** all the City knockers lets get to the Final in force. We should be happy. PS for the 1st time also Burnsy **** off with your downbeat attitude pist game.
Hughes was exceptional tonight, we wouldn't get him because he's being chased by the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham (where he'll probably go) and United. Think Liverpool had a £12m bid turned down last season. No way we could afford him, but he will be an exceptional player. He ran the midfield for them tonight.
I don't disagree. That Hughes lad is the best Championship midfielder by a mile. He really played well tonight. However, no defender should be allowed to carry the ball from the 18 yard line into our half unchallenged - criminal and almost costly.
He's exactly what we don't have and haven't had in many a season. He was fantastic and apparently ring rusty after being out a long time.
He was a joy to watch tonight, always great to see players like that first hand, I knew he was highly rated but never seen him in the flesh before
It was ridiculous, for about half an hour we had all our players back in our half, even Hernandez was our side of the centre circle, how on Earth could we expect to break out without any support for him?! Diame spent most of the game as a CDM, absolutley ridiculous.
It's almost as ridiculous as visiting somewhere with a known cold climate and packing a thin summer jacket
