£52m in five years for kicking a football about.........It's madness. and that's only one player. How far will this go?

Would you like SAFC to try and buy sucess in a few season, or happy to build up to a certain level

MANCHESTER CITY took their spending to new heights by signing Sergio Aguero in a deal that will cost a staggering £90million.
They agreed to pay Atletico Madrid £38m for the Argentine striker - and Aguero's five-year contract, at more than £200,000 a week, will set City back another £52m.

But the hitman, 23, insists he is worth the money. He said: "I think like a giant, think like a winner."

What would happen if their wealthy owners got bored with their toy & decide to get rid of it one way or another?, would Man CIty go under?, personally I think it's about time deals & players wages were capped, £200 000/wk is a bit much & I will be totally honest, I don't blame the player, especially if it was offered & not demanded by him, any one of us would take that salary, I blame the clubs for making these offers or being held to ransom by agents & greedy players demands

This has been going on for years lads obviously not on this scale but, the rich teams will always buy the players they want. Look at us in the 50's "Bank Of England Club" ring any bells?
I'm happy with the way we are trying to do it but, even at SAFC we are spending big money, as said if the sheikh gets bored or decides to pull out then what happens to City? I think they'll struggle to find another owner as beneficial as their current one.
Just been on SSN about the new FIFA financial fair play rules and they used City as an example but, the big teams will find ways round them look at Citys deal with Etihad. Also owners can "donate" funds to the club which counts towards the clubs income, making a mockery of the rules from day one so why bother having them?
Football to quote Jimmy Greaves (I think it was) "is a funny old game" where anything can happen no matter how rich or good your team is, so why bother messing about with it?

johnson, onouah and bellamy. we could get all 3 for about half what they'll pay for this guy and they would do so much more for our team than aguero will ever do for city.

To be fair... Messi and Ronaldo are both on more than that... Supposedly about five million a year more.

And both of those clubs are in some way funded by the Spanish and Catalan government/monarchy.

I'm interested in what the team cohesion and dressing room dynamics will be like. How are those players on a paltry £100k a week going to react? I believe citeh are making a rod for their own back!

If they were on 5 million a year they would be on a lot less than him - £200,000 a week equates to a whopping £10,400,000 per year - not bad wage
