Walker is barely international standard let alone world class. Unfortunately sterling has had a monumental loss of form.
We will miss Welbeck's work rate and pace on the break. He also linked up really well with Rooney around the edge of the box. I'm not as confident as I was now that we have lost a lot of pace on the break especially as sterling has turned to ****. Bale will be a threat to all defences but we really should be too good for Wales.
Asking for trouble if the perennial crocks are all taken. I ask again, what does Rooney bring that no one else does? Is he there to be a striker over any of Kane, Vardy or Sturridge or is he there to slow the midfield down and play Joey Barton Hollywood passes? Perhaps both.
I look at that squad and think .......how in hell did that squad do so well in the qualifiers.... (Your answer will be because the qualifiers were dead easy) If we go any distance in the Euros....it will be just like "doing a Leicester"
Only 3 CD, lets hope there are no injuries...Must start both Vardy and Kane, must play the inform players.
That's why Roy should have taken someone like Jagielka instead of Stones. I completely glossed over la-la-laanna earlier. Constantly bemused how he's anywhere near the squad...
My first call would have been to beg John Terry for one last tournament. The defence would be a lot stronger for it. I think the West Ham pair of Mark Noble and Aaron Cresswell can count themselves very unlucky. I'd have included Carrick in my squad as his game suits International football, where ball retention is paramount. He was sorely missed in Brazil 2014. Also, is Mark Albrighton not a more efficient footballer than Andros Townsend? He was a mainstay in a team which won the league comfortably. No need to include Rashford, he could be the future but I'd have gone with Defoe in the squad as someone to bring off the bench. As for the team, I think the 4-4-2 diamond plays to our strengths; Hart Clyne, Cahill, Smalling, Rose Dier Drinkwater, Barkley Alli Kane, Vardy
IMO that format IMO that formation with some of those players wouldn't win a game in the group stage.
It says that we need a reliable centre back option, and we don't need an out of form potato faced granny fiddler.
Jagielka ia not anywhere good enough for international football. Your prejudice against Rooney is quite pathetic. What does it say in that old fairy story? 'Let he without sin cast the first stone' or similar. Out of interest, what would your starting 11 be?
This one of our youngest ever squads...I would take Rooney for that reason, he is now an experienced head....and as Kilburn said he looked sharp tonight....and he has not had a difficult season either. This is his time to prove something...no problem with Rooney.... Much much more worried about the defence...I don't think it would do well in the Premiership, let alone in the Euros. Remember those two Spurs full backs are held together by Alderweireld and Vertonghen...possibly the best two CD in the prem...if they have to cover Smalling and Stones...the wheels may come off
