If we were getting properly stuck in you boys would have had the heads up. We would like to think he will be first four but no way are we or the trainer behind any kind of punt. In fact, perversely, Don and I will be a little bit miffed if he bolts up as if we were confident we would have had a lot more on!
Jaywalker in the next at Brighton looks very interesting. He ran a good race to finish second a fortnight ago after two years off the track. He has gone up four pounds for it but one would imagine he should improve for it. De Souza abroad to give a futher positive.
Not at all a betting proposition but it will be disappointing if The Game Changer can't get back to winning ways at Killarney this evening. I wonder what the lads at Gigginstown are thinking with this one? I was thinking maybe Galway Plate but at 153 he may already be too high for that and the trip may stretch his stamina. He needs good ground so maybe an Autumn campaign mopping up some nice graded races between 16 and 20 furlongs?
Blushes would have been a nailed on place so good news, just hope no more come out as then we have the dreaded 7. Must have a chance of getting placed at best if ready as the race is even weaker now. Just our luck some rogue will refuse to go into the stalls.
Oooooooh tenderly ridden last 50 yards - I'd not be happy if I were on e/w ...........................
I would disagree oddie. I would say the horse hated that track and didn't let itself down as was resisting the rolling track, it also stayed on towards the end which would indicate he wanted a stronger pace. The horse should not see Brighton again but taken back to Windsor or similar and getting a stronger pace the horse has a race in him from this mark. It's a low mark and there doesn't look a reason to think he has loads to spare but horses with less potential than Buzz have lost their maiden in such races.
Track looked no problem at all to my eyes. The winner has some form behind a mid 70's horse. Giddy felt she was dealt a tough opening mark too...Buzz looked to have a lot more to give though, definitely capable of winning off mid 60's to low 70's. Was caught for room 3 out as well, had to sit and suffer. Hope he comes out of that well
Definite potential though, however you read the race. Should be another good horse for stick & the Don - best of luck lads.
Going to give Stolberg a chance again in the 6.20 @ Killarney@ 14/1. He seems to be following the Roger Varian running method though of winning followed by a bad run and then winning again of late and his last run was too bad to be true so a chance is taken he can bounce back. Prior to this, he had easily disposed of He Is Top Class and Black Ice with the minimum of fuss. Now rated 112, that mark is on the cusp of his limit, he could make a 120 horse max I'd say and that could come with a win in this big field handicap. Many of his wins have came on soft/heavy but he has a win on good to firm going back to summertime '14. Young Brassil takes a handy 7 off his back and he could be thereabouts especially at the each way odds if preferred as he would have to have a chance on that latest win over He is top Class if producing the goods.
Derek Thompson is guaranteed to say "coming with a good looking run" at least 20 times for the remainder of the Leicester meet. When he's on jump duty, his go to line is "yep....and all safely over that one" Time for Tommo to be put out to grass!
Hannon has 2 up at Leicester and 2 at Windsor. Apart from the odds on jolly I'd give the other 3 good chances too. My main one being TIGGALISCOIUS in the next at Windsor.
Get Buzz down to the low 50s and he'll start to get really interesting. When is Squire running again gents?
