About the only pundit with a merest inkling of knowledge about that is Claridge. Quality journalists can write reams of properly informed articles about how Saints do it season after season [we've seen them] and nobody gets any wiser. Even a Saints fan in Denmark rang BBC606 and told Savage and Fletcher of his fears for Koeman leaving this summer, when we KNOW he is at least seeing out his contract. Also the fan said we can't keep being lucky recruiting superb players. It's not luck. It's superb scouting, data accumulation, coordinating and planning. So there was no hint of educating the BBC pundits, just a fan spurting out uninformed tosh. If the average Saints fan is too lazy to find the truth from the BS then I give up.

Fantastic viewing yesterday, couldn't make the game but managed to watch on telly with the Stoke game running on my tablet at the same time. Tense stuff until the pen obviously. Best moment though was as we were celebrating Davis's goal I glanced down to see a Stoke corner being glanced in past a flailing Randolph in goal! Double goal celebration - reminded me of Alan Partridge - "EAT THAT!!! ......... AND ANOTHER!!!!" Plaudits to Glenn Whelan for clearing that chance off the line - 3cm the difference between 6th and 7th place (or 5th and 6th in the unlikely event of Bournemouth winning of course....) First match day I can remember for a long time where every result went the way we wanted it to (Pompey as well!)
Bertrand to self: "Need to get on that plane, Woy hasn't seen me score for ages... hang on - maybe I can cement my place scoring a pen?! England always need penalty takers...." A bit touch and go yes but fair play for having the bottle. Anyone remember Andrew Surman taking a pen for his hat-trick and Rasiak trying to snatch the ball off him, to the anger of all the crowd?
The team was cross as well....quite a little spat ensued whilst Adam Surman hugged the ball and kept turning his back to Rasiak. Luckily he scored.
What a wonderful Monday morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No idea why "Morning has broken, like the first morning Black bird has spoken, like the first bird...." Oh my, I just want to sing out loud all day
You are lucky....I can't get 'Southampton in Europa' out of my head. It may need to be surgically removed.
I have no problem with the motd pundits mentioning all the players who left Saints in the last two seasons - it's a big part of our story after all. But they could have followed it up with a Where Are They Now? piece. As in, How's that working out for you Morgan? Enjoy 8th place Nat. Etc.
Pretty much a perfect day yesterday. A trip to Thorpe Park with friends, Saints win and get into Europe, went home and got drunk and today's my birthday and I've got no hangover. Pretty good weekend.
Happy birthday Tom, I got to admit that started off my holiday from work pretty nicely. I'm heading off to Weymouth this week And it's my 30th on Wednesday. So I'm pencilling that day as RoKos contract extension.
nah Tom... Thorpe Park today and St Mary's yesterday would have been perfect for you. Surely beers with the not 606 crew would have made it perfect
Ron was loving it, too. Note that it's Ralph on the stage holding the mic for Shane and Katharina is there too with a drink in her hand. Nice to see everyone together and enjoying the club's success.
Same here! "Fonte at the back, pelle in attack, Koeman takes us higher, Koeman takes us higher..."" AAGGGHHJJ
That is incredible, plenty of 'if only's' there. However, the league table doesn't lie. Yes, there were games we could and should have done better in but, there again we probably didn't deserve to win 4-1 yesterday. All in all a fantastic achievement in an amazing season.
Penblwydd hapus, Tom! No, I'm not swearing at you, honest, ref (says she with best innocent Pelle-getting-booked gesture)
