I thought Fer did ok today gave the ball away once or twice early on but improved as the game went on and threaded some nice passes. Kingsley has got to be our left back next season and I thought Fernandez and Amat combined well together. Cork was my man of the match he worked tirelessly. We do need a bit more pace in the team for next season and some ageing legs need replacing. Every time Montero has come up against a pacy full back this season he has not performed that well.
The match was hugely important for Man City so it's not one they would have taken lightly. End of season it may have been, but I thought it was a lively, entertaining affair. We rode our luck at times, but overall a fair result. I didn't think anyone played particularly badly. At the end of the day, with a weakened team we were playing against the Champions League semi-finalists - who were only beaten by Real Madrid over two legs by a deflected goal!

Next season: Fab (Right back).. Amat/Williams.. Fernandez.. Kingsley Cork.. (Centre mid) Barrow.. Siggy.. Montero (Striker) Bench: Naughton Williams/Amat Britton or Taylor Ki Routs Paloschi Ayew A new right back is needed. I'd employ Rangel as a coach as his playing style for a full back is spot on for our style of play, he's just too old to implement it. Could be invaluable as a coach. Williams is getting older and would be good for both Amat and the swans if we could start breeding him in throughout next season. He's certainly got the ability! Was hoping it would happen this year but we relied heavily on Williams when Fernandez lost form. He seems to be much more solid now though. Kingsley ahead of Taylor for obvious reasons. Again Britton isn't getting any younger and we can't afford to rely on him to heavily for a full season. Fer has done well but I don't feel he is any better than what we have. I'd like to see us attempt to improve on what we have, not simply buy like for like. It will only lead to stagnation. Hopefully Siggy is with us next year, if not then I would put Ayew in his position. Our wingers seem sorted. I would get barrow to build up his right foot over preseason, will make him less predictable. Montero thrives on confidence and I don't think this season has done him any favours at all regarding that. When he comes back fresh in August I expect to see the Montero of old tearing it up. And finally, let's bring Bony home! I like Paloschi but given the choice between him and Bony, it's a no brainer. Palo has a great work rate that can harm teams late in the game. Would be lethal as a super sub with Bony starting.
Ok couldn't go to the game yesterday watched when I got home and to be honest I was a little disappointed with our lack of get up and get at them. It has to be said the game was far more important to them than us and that might of been the reason. I I have looked at the argument over Fer and you are both a bit right I thought he was excellent in the first half and his passing was good, he seemed to run out of steam in the second half and did give the ball away a lot more. He still doesn't look 100% fit to me and looks like he is carrying a bit of timber still, maybe that is just the way he is and he will always be that build. He does amble more than run but it is quite and effective amble. I am still on the fence on whether we sign him or not. I suppose it depends on what QPR want for him and who else maybe available. I think Guidolin likes him so I can see him signing if the price is right. I agree with all Amat put a right shift in and he had to as we seemed to defend quite deep and allowed their midfield to much time and space. Kingsley is definitely one for the future and a very good display again, going forward he is always a threat and always drives on, defensively there is still a bit of work to be done, but that can be worked on and he clearly has the ability to be a good PL player. I was a little disappointed we didn't give Gorre 10 mins instead of bringing the useless fat French man. it would have been a good opportunity to look at him in an environment where it didn't really matter whether he took any chance that came his way. It also would have given him invaluable experience. Overall a good point, just a little disappointed with the second half where I thought having scored right on half time we would have gone for the jugular as we had nothing to lose, but we didn't, a shame.
The season is over now and we came through it with credit after a poor first half of the season and have earned a shed full of money. There are plenty of lessons to learn from with players we need to keep and players that need to be replaced. First and foremost we need a couple of strikers and replacements for our ageing players and replacements for those the management think are not up to standard and We must finally get this extension sorted once and for all and get building and if that is not possible and looks like it wont happen then we have to think of something else because the liberty is much to small for our needs and we need bigger as our fan base is growing all the time.
