...and by then, despite having played 126 more league matches in all divisions, when it comes to the top flight will still have managed to have played less top flight games, with less top flight wins and less points per game, and still below us in the all time top flight table.

Yet will have spent a smaller percentage of your time in the top flight and more in the 2nd and third tier (somewhere we've not been yet, though time may yet tell on that one!). You have 6 domestic trophies to our 10.
You can stick manipulating statistics "in your hoop" if you so wish. I don't go in for that sort of thing, nor do i go in for homoerotic euphemisms but whatever floats your boat I guess.
Think i would rather have the 6 League titles personally. At the end of the day both clubs have a very similar record, what pisses me off is the Geordies superior complex they have when both teams histories is pretty similar.

You may be correct. I think (and stress think) that we have 4 leagues and 6 FA Cups, and not sure where i got the numbers from for you in my head - just looked it up and wiki says you have 8 (6 leagues and 2 FA).

Well you never know, you might end up there again one day. As it happens, Sunderland have played 15 seasons in the Premier League and average about 39 points per season. Added to your flirting with relegation the past four or five seasons, I can see the trap door opening again fairly soon for you.

It would have to be geographical Albert, in the sporting field Sunderland's record is so far in front that it is highly unlikely any living person will see it overtaken by Newcastle
