bit of a flappy punch at one point but he looked cool and calm. Brave too. Maybe a bit weird but playing in a blue kit makes him look better Keep him in for the home game? Think I would and let greegsy have time to recover for the final.
Since that horror show against Weds 3 1/2 years ago, he's not done anything colossally stupid, and when he has played he's not looked out of place. His awareness and speed off the line started the move for the first goal, and other than the flappy punch yeah he looked very very solid, as he did when he played in the league too. What really gets me with him is his obvious passion, the way he celebrated the 3rd goal makes me believe that he really cares. He should certainly start at home.
Some where saying yesterday that he shouldn't start the next game regardless of whether McGregor's fit or not! So we would bung in someone who has zero experience of playing in England when we have a keeper who possibly played the game of the season against Arsenal! Barking. Decision's a simple one. McGregor if fit. Jak if not. Kuciak if they're both not.
I actually think he has been very good when called upon. His distribution of the ball is miles better than McGregors the majority of the time. I'd rather have kept the Jak on than signed that other keeper. He did have a proper head clash with Odubajo yesterday. Dave had a hole in his lip and Jak had blood all around his mouth - surprised he didn't knock any teeth out.
He might be more relaxed with a three-goal cushion so on reflection would probably keep him in, I like him but he seems so nervous at times. Derby hardly gave him anything to do and he is a decent enough shot stopper usually
I think both Jak and McG have always got a mistake in them. I reckon Jak's reputation is still suffering from the 'injured' saga though.
Jak's got skills... he's just incredibly inconsistent and has proved in the past he can lose his bottle when the chips are down. He was 'great' yesterday because he had one piss easy save to make all game. He still flapped a punch and managed to parry a ball going well wide... it's a good thing Robertson had the foresight to follow that up because Jak kept it in play. They were 'minor' mistakes purely because we got away with them. They had 1 shot on target and Jak made two errors... Derby convert them and this thread would look much different.
It's always going to be the case with that Wednesday game. It took a while but I'm past it now. The Arsenal game put him in a good light. He will always make mistakes though, but I reckon he's a good Championship keeper. In the PL he could handle it, but the team would concede silly goals. There's also that Southampton goal he set up last year too, but its history now. McG gets on with it IMO, Jak's a bit more dramatic with it. Also McG v Wolves isn't getting forgotten about, nor his silly sending off v Palace. McG seems to have more control IMO too. Either way I'm happy with either in goal, obviously McG preferred though.
What, like not forgetting the two errors that happened just yesterday? McGregor's errors aren't as frequent but he still has them in his locker. Most keepers do. It's all about consistency in goal and McG far outweighs Jak in that department despite improvements in Jak's performances. Not sure why people thought he was so good yesterday... He had nothing to do and still looked worrying at times. Should we go up, a good keeper is one of the top priorities for me because neither are good enough for the top flight.
