Yes maybe its not a crazy concept, but i still dont think he is quite at Shergar's level yet.Has the potential to be better and to surpass his achievements.

This does appear to be a completely pointless comparison. One horse was a middle distance performer, the other is a miler. Being of the opinion that Frankel will not stay twelve furlongs, I cannot see Sir Henry’s charge running in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe or any other such race. So this is chalk vs cheese.

I am surprised that KS did not start this thread just so that he could trot out the same hackneyed old arguments. I notice that he did manage to get in Glint Of Gold’s six Group 1 wins, although most of them came in European Group 1s that were Group 1 in name and prize money only and that includes his four-year-old career like the 1982 Grosser Preis von Baden. Which British or Irish Group 1 races did he win?

Ron, you should close this thread or rename it “the King Shergar version of racing history”. No date is ever specified for when Ian Balding said that Glint Of Gold was the second best horse he trained. Looking at Balding’s career now that it has finished, this statement is palpable nonsense.

As Cecil also mentioned Blushing Groom, how come nobody has started a Frankel vs Blushing Groom thread?

I find it hard to compare a truly brilliant miler to a truly brilliant middle distance horse (Frankel/Shergar) I look at this way. There is something about the two horses that as set them apart from the rest, Shergars Derby victory was truly breathtaking as was the way Frankel opened up at 15L lead in the 2000 Guineas and then still won by 6L. These are things we don't see every day in racing and thats what set these two apart from the past greats. I still to this day believe that Dancing Brave is the best horse I have ever seen though. How lucky as Khalid Abdullah been?

I really do not understand the necessity to compare horses from different generations! Times have moved on and horses are trained totally differently.

I was there when Shergar won the '81 Derby and we all stated that day that we would never see a horse as good as him again! I still think that may be the case.

However, what we have seen from Frankel is totally unbelievable, who can honestly say (hand on heart) that they have ever witnessed what we saw in the Guineas!

In the Sussex it was clear to see CC was not at his best and without doubt does not enjoy Goodwood BUT would a 100% fit CC have been able to react to the awesome and stunning change of gear from Frankel? Personally, I think not.

Frankel is the Shergar of the 00s and let's just hope that he stays fit and continues to give us all superb displays like he has done thus far :emoticon-0148-yes:

There is nothing lucky about the success that Khalid Abdulla has enjoyed as an owner. Just like there is nothing lucky about HH Aga Khan being a successful owner.

They owe it respectively to Khalid Abdulla the breeder and HH Aga Khan the breeder. Granted in the latter case, inheriting the family dynasty was a convenient head start.

Obviously they both have another advantage over the guy who only owns one or two horses.

Why is he not at Shergar's level yet? He polished off the three top mile races same as Shergar polished off the mid-distances and for me Frankel beat the best other horse in any of the races in Canford Cliffs?
Seems to me some are afraid to look at the past and say its just that and with others hero worship gets involved!
Anyway QEII and then 4yo season so we'll see!

Exactly there is no point dissing the highest rated horse in training at the moment and there is no point in dissing an all time great!
