It would take a hefty bid to be accepted by them. They rejected £4.5m from Lesta. Not worth the money banded about but not many players go for their true value in this inflated Market.

I think we should be spending the money on a quality centre half rather than Maynard. I think our front line, providing Connolly stays fit is good enough. All of them can find the back of the net if the supply is right and am happy with the midfield we have at our disposal. Just feel we need some more quality along side Fonte. If you ask me Lambert, Connolly, Guly and Barnard will be as hungry as they can be to impress in this league and someone like Maynard maybe one stricker too many.
We have goals in our midfield players as well. My opinion (and thats all it is) our missing link is 2 quality centre backs as the big J is on his last legs and Fonte needs someone that will compliment him and the team. If we get this I really think we have a very strong side that does not need to be tinkered with.

I'm prepared for a lot of you to disagree but do we need another striker. Our forward line is strong, surely any money should be used to strengthen the defence as cover for the inevitable injuries later in season.

Fran alot will depend on whether NA sees new boy De Ridder as a back up striker as well as a winger; if he does then we may not need another. I he doesn't then we do.

I'd like a CB too

we have no pace upfront, that is what we are missing. Guly isn't a forward, he can do a job there, but he is better in midfield.

It's usually common for teams who have a wantaway player with a year on his contract to hold out for the best deal and that will come toward the end of the window.
City will know if they have any chance of getting him to sign an extention, if not i'm sure they're on the hunt for a replacement and will prob play teams off against each other around mid to late august.

If we're in the hunt for him fair play, but judging by our two signings so far NA & NC like a bargain.

Who did we sign for a bargain fee? De Ridder signed for a "significant undisclosed fee". Significant doesn't suggest a cheap option to me!

Nowt wrong with a bargain if you get good players like Cork and de Ridder. A bargain is something that proves more valuable than the price you paid. Too many people believe that a high price always means better goods...that's how they get kids to pay over the top for 'labels'. I'm happy with the purchases and resignings so far and Adkins still saying on OS that there's another signing on way.

Bristol City want big money for him. They paid a lot, in the region of £2.25 million and there is rumoured to be a big sell on clause so they will have to share any profit. Is he worth it? Sven thinks so. He is proven at this level. Do we need him? Not sure. Our current forward line may well be good enough for the championship. Am I sitting on the fence? I might be.

I don't think we need another striker. We certainly don't need to spend £5m on one. A good no.5 and we're done imo.

I don't suppose De Ridder cost more than £2m and I dread to think of the cost of a British equivalent so he is a bargain in that sense. Bargain just means he's worth or will prove to be worth more thaan we paid.

I thought I read somewhere that NA was looking outside of the english transfer market due to the over inflated costs and I expect teams are wanting some money from OXO's imaginary transfer as well.
