For the fee, for where he's come from, for what he's given the team, I stand by my comment. Clearly he was better at the start of the season. But his less effective spell he still hasn't been a complete write off as some would have you believe.

He's far better than Quinn and he hasn't made the loss of Brady half as painful as it could have been.

I think he'll be fine, he's the type of player a club like ours should be signing. He's 100% work rate and he's got enough about him to weigh in with goals and assists. He's one of those influential footballers that helps set the tempo of the team, and he's an example to his team mates with his appetite for running.

Successful modern teams seem to be built around athleticism - we're seeing it with Liverpool, Spurs, Leicester and teams across Europe. Teams that are being able to cover huge distances collectively are those that are coming to the fore.

Sam will help with that as he's capable of covering ground. Bruce has commented numerous times that the in game player stats show Clucas covers more ground than any other City player.

Like I say 'Sensational'. My words, my opinion, you can agree or not, doesn't make my opinion OTT or wrong.

The word, in this case, is a poor choice as it is more often than not used to 'overemphasize' something or someone - like how many times have you used the word to describe your latest girlfriend ("You look sensational") when your sole aim is to get her knickers off. In Clucas' case he has never played at top level nor has he attracted any interest from Premier League Clubs so perhaps the word 'sensational' is a bit "OTT". Like you say, your opinion and we would have to agree to disagree on this one.

In relation to his fee, I disagree. I thought you had me on ignore anyway?

I do not have ANYONE on ignore as I will be contributing very little to these boards next season as here in Oz most of us have had the Premier League 'live' broadcasts taken off us (They were bought by Optus) with Foxtel (Sky) taking over the BeIn Sports Channel's (featuring the Championship) but in doing so have decided to broadcast the European Leagues but, unfortunately for us, NOT the Championship League. So whether we are in the Premier League or Championship next season I will not be able to watch either therefore making it impossible for me to contribute.
I shall of course be taking great interest in comments by your good self and other members of these boards.
Clucas' fee is irrelevant to his performances.

It isn't irrelevant though, his value has increased in line with his sensational performances. £ for £ he's one of the most effective signings we have made.

I definitely was on your lengthy ignore list, how times change eh? Enjoy your Euro football anyway.

Oh, I watch Barcelona and real Madrid almost every week and never cease to wonder at the "SENSATIONAL" performances by Ronaldo and Messi. Sadly, you will never see performances like that by Sam Clucas as long as you have a hole in your arse.

People were on my ignore list because (like many others) I got fed up of hearing about what a pack of arseholes The Allams are as well as being told that players like Altidore, Graham, Sagbo, McLean, Simpson and others were "works in progress" were doing "other things" which were totally opposite to my views that they weren't strikers arseholes or the fact that they were just pure and simple WUM's.

Jay Simpson was pretty effective for us, regardless of your thoughts on him. The others I agree weren't the best - but still made or scored the odd important goal (except for Danny Graham).

Performances are relevant to the league and also the position they play in, for us in the Championship I do think Clucas has still been sensational. The professional who did the write up for Sky described him as 'Exceptional' another superlative from an ex professional who knows a bit more about football and footballers overall performances and contributions than posters on an Internet forum, wouldn't you agree? I share his view, but chose the word 'Sensational' as a superlative.

    6 goals 8 assists from a winger.

Yes I would certainly agree with that but 'exceptional' is far more appropriate than 'sensational' which is reserved for performances coming from the likes of Ronaldo and Messi rather than a player rising from the lower leagues of English football and playing in the Championship. Your deciding to replace the word 'exceptional' with 'sensational' is a simple matter of 'bigging him up' and not a true reflection on his ability.

Last post on the matter. There's no great difference between Sensational or Exceptional. They are both superlative's you could use to describe outstanding performances.

Exceptional = Being out of the ordinary.
Sensational = Very good indeed or Very Impressive.

Yes, your last post sums him up "Very ordinary"!

Jamie Vardy was playing in the Conference at 25 and struggling in the Championship at 26.

If he was going to improve he would have done it by then though, surely...

I understand your subtle comment but the Brazilian Great, Garrincha, had some deformities. His right leg bent outwards and his left leg was six centimeters shorter and curved inwards. Are we to assume from this that all people with such deformities are going to become star larkers?
Vardy has done exceptionally well, so are we to raid the Conference League for players next season.
Clucas puts a shift in every game but is showing no signs of becoming a Premier League player imo.

Do you read the match day threads after we've played **** & complaints of needing a solid midfielder to break up the opposition?

Yes, and I agree, we desperately need a quality Midfield General.
