A good days racing to get stuck into from a punting point of view.

    3.35 Kodi Bear
A touch of class about this horse, I was very tempted to steer clear due to Limato being in the field but the vibes have been negative for Limato due to the rain and so I will plump for a win bet on Kodi Bear.

    4.30 Imperial Aviator 7-2
Anyone who saw how easily Ulyseis took the maiden at Newbury today could not be anything but excited about this selection, to have turned over Ulyseis (well on top at the end) and be that clear of the rest just shouts high class animal. It appears Qatar have bought the horse since this victory and I am sure they have not done so as they view it to have a couple of handicaps in him, get on this horse whilst it is still in handicaps as it will likely not be for long.

its my son's stag do tomorrow, Rams v Hull at lunchtime then off to Uttoxeter for an evening meeting followed by Human League. I realise that it is a very minor meeting but if anyone has any thoughts on runners it would be good to boost the drinks kitty.

ENDLESS DRAMA 12/1 to win the Lockinge.

Would love nothing more than Ger Lyons to land a Group1 and he says if this isn't one horse of that quality then there isn't another in the yard.

A big ask to win first time out but he's had the rain in his favour this week and it's a very open Group1.

A trainer to follow and pretty hilarious bloke too from when I read his blogs and interviews.

Staggering that this race still has G1 status.

It will, however, continue to as long as the current sponsors abide.

There looks to be a number of intruging contests tomorrow,

    5:05 Newb
-Beautiful Morning won a hotly contested York handicap before finishing a 8l fifth to Minding in the Fillies Mile shortly after, staying on towards the end.
Will certainly appreciate the step up in trip to 1m2fl and at 4/1 (SJ) is a cracking price.

    3:35 Newmarket
-Thikriyaat won a C&D race just over a month ago coming through to score close home, under similar conditions here and with question marks over a number of the challenges I fully expect the SMS colt get up.

    3:25 Thirsk
    - Trinity Star Made a pleasing return last month when placed at Pontefract on ground much softer than ideal. Back on fast ground with cheekpieces on he is bound to go close

    3:20 Newbury
Sunflower e/w - Going to take a chance on the Andrew Balding trained Sunflower, won a Windsor maiden before being pitched into Group 1 company when finishing 6th of 8 in the Chevely Park Stakes behind some nice sorts on his 2nd start. Hoping this unexposed sort will have developed well and run well here at 11/1

    Good luck all <ok>

You make a very good point as the race does seem to have "tailed-off" the last decade or so (excepting the year of the 'great one'). Shame as there were a few very good winners in the past, to name a few:
    ........................................................................
    Frankel 2012
    Cape Cross 1998
    Selkirk 1992
    Kris 1980
    Relkino 1977
    Brigadier Gerard 1972
    Habitat 1969

BHA quash Jim Best's ban after finding some of the panel may have been biased. Stick must have forwarded his strongly worded letter after all!

    13:55 Bangor - Icanmotor e/w

(Still a maiden, but will give this mare from small stable another chance. Was also entered for the 20:00 race at Uttoxeter today, but connections have chosen this event. Travelled well LTO at Market Rasen for a long way, over a good furlong longer distance than this on good-to-soft going, until running out of puff last 75 yds. So, hopefully, will see this shorter trip out better on faster ground and on a fairly sharp track. Decent TS speed rating and RPR with RP. Also, at time of writing, this is the only ride of the day at this meeting for experienced jockey Jamie Moore. For my usual Saturday wager took the 8/1 e/w earlier-on with RaceBets, always hoping for a small drift, of course!).

    Good luck today everyone!

Belrado in the lockinge for me the last race was a bit messy, but really can't get interested in the flat yet.

Morning, all. How’s everyone on the campest forum in the Isle?!?

Cor blimey can you believe it’s a year today that Time Test won that handicap at Newbury off 93!

I’ll summarise today’s advice by saying – The SCRUTINEER studied the SOUTHERN STARS and declared REMARKABLE!

    Toodles!

<laugh>. Ah, the county set. They are a bit odd, found that out on my one visit to Fakenham years ago. Norfolk version, bloody weird.

TOO LATE TO SELL 4.55 Punchestown 20/1
Some way below its last winning mark and has a very good claimer in the saddle.
Ignore the form figures, I am told its trying today!
