That's true but I think we do have quality already. Mannone has been superb. Kaboul and Kone are totally convincing as a prem standard CB pair. PVA is a threat and has come on leaps and bounds in one season. Kirchhoff is a class act. If we can keep M'Vila he's another top quality midfielder. Khazri looks like a gem of a player and Defoe is one of the best finishers in the league. The only players I'd consider replacing (as in keeping but potentially dropping) from the team that started yesterday are Cattermole as although he's done well further forward it's not his natural position, Borini who I'm not totally convinced about and though I would keep Yedlin, in fairness we could do better. I think we should do what Leicester will probably do which is to try and retain the same side with one or two upgrades but add quality to the bench.
That's pretty much the top and bottom of it, but you need a striker. Defoe is only gonna give you another season or so and you need somebody to fill his boots and start to phase him out of your side over the next season or two. After another year of heavy financial losses though, I'd imagine SA's budget will be tight and he'll be looking for more of the same sort that you signed in January. Seb Haller, I think you were linked with him last season... he's been scoring for fun this season. Also, with WHU being linked with Benteke, Lacazette etc, I can see them offloading a striker or two and maybe Allardyce will fancy Enner Valencia again.
Absolutely spot on, sums up my feeling exactly mate. We have the spine of a decent team which just needs the addition of a few QUALITY players and we'll be fine.
This is pretty much spot on. We have the makings of a good side since the 3k's came in in January. We desperately need to get rid of the ****e we had on loan like Mavrias, Bridcutt, Buckley etc so we have the wages available. We need to add some quality to the squad, and even though Kaboom and Jan K are immense, they are prone to injury, so we desperately need 2 quality CB (one to replace JoS - who I want to remain with the club), someone in Jan's role (an intelligent DM... intelligence and reading of the game are important!), a RB aswell as buying Yedlin (Yed is good, raw but can polished and we need his pace and attacking prowess), a LB cover for PVA, a stiker, M'Villa is priority, and a striker/targetman so Defoe can play off of him. I like Borini, his workrate is immense and he has been helping out PVA alot. I wouldn't change him. We can attack and score goals, it was the other end that ****ed up all of our good work in the final third.
Agree mostly, I think its more of a case of having another quality midfielder than replacing Catts, he never plays a full season anyway but is very good cover is there are injuries which there always are. Same for Borini, I would like to see us try and sign Ayew, but again with injuries and suspensions Borini will still get plenty of game time. As for up top, yes we do need to sign another Striker but I think Watmore will get used a lot more through the middle next season as its his best position, I would like to see Defoe bring Watmore along so as Defoe plays less due to age Watmore plays more. We need someone else too but the future looks good. At the back we just need cover at CB as Kaboul is injury prone, JOS is fine as cover but we need someone else, I would like Clark from Villa who can also cover left back. I would sign Yedlin too as he looks like he will improve and he has pace which is critical to our side. So here is what I think we need: Sign Yedlin Sign Mvilla Sign Full back cover Sign Centre back cover Sign first choice midfielder Sign first choice attacking wide man Sign striker That's 7 in, I am sure we have 7 who will be leaving or out of contract.
