Wow its been awhile since i’ve posted here! (although I have been lurking….honestly just thought I’d never remember my login details!). I’m heading out for the parade day next Monday. Im going to take my grandmother who is 88 and has had multiple hip operations. She is a life-long fan so would really love to get out for the parade. She can walk, slowly, unassisted but standing for long periods of time would be tough. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where we can head to? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Also can’t wait for our last away day…see you all at the Bridge!
Depends what you want to do - if it is just a quick look and wave then go to London road as town will be packed and it will become a squash at the railings so you could end up standing for a good while unable to move. If you want to make a trip of it I would recommend going to Victoria Park - presentations will be happening there and you can take a folding chair for her to sit on while you wait. My grandmother is the same way and we bought her a folding wheelchair that we keep it in the boot of the car and take it out for her if we know we are walking a distance - I have noticed that people are a bit more considerate and would make some space if you ask nicely for an advantageous position.
Cheers dude - ive just read that there are viewing platforms for disabled users so may head there. Failing that your folding chair at Victoria Park idea may be the best option
