A draw wouldn't be a disaster for sunderland, means we only need a draw at watford. I agree a draw is a good bet
A defeat wouldn't even be a disaster for Sunderland - and you won't get beat. Sure, it might set off a few twitchy arses down the road, but it wouldn't change the fact that we would have to beat Spurs and hope you didn't beat Watford. The only thing that would change if you lost tomorrow night would be that you couldn't rely on a draw at Watford. If we don't beat Spurs you'd be up anyway, and in some ways it is better to need a win than a draw on the last day for you. Sometimes if the team ahead on points only needs a draw it can cause you to play too tentatively. You're better off playing to win than playing not to get beat. When teams play not to get beat they tend to sit back and defend. Your strength is in attacking rather than defending, so it would play to your strengths to need a win.
I apologise in advance for the inevitable roll over we'll provide the Mackems with tonight. We've been shameful for the last month or so, and I can't see us turning up in an atmosphere like there'll be tonight.
You might be doing us a favour by making sure we are put out of our misery quickly rather than a slow lingering death on the last day!
I feel for you mate, must to tough to swallow, especially given that you've done much better of late under Benitez, and had Ashley brought him in a month or 2 earlier, then you'd more than likely not be in this mess.
That is definitely the hardest part for me. We've been shown what could be done with a proper manager, only to almost certainly have that taken away from us after Sunday. It's like Bully's "Let's see what you could have won." Out of interest, how would your fans feel about getting him? There's been lots of talk about him going there, and it looks like Everton will probably be the most attractive job going this summer if Martinez goes (assuming Man Utd already have Jose lined up if LVG is on his way out). He lives in the city so it would be ideal for him in many ways. Would his past Liverpool connections be an issue?
There's no chance of Benitez coming to Goodison mate. It would be completely unacceptable to a large chunk of the fanbase, plus I doubt the man himself would risk the wrath of 'that lot', and ruining his legacy there. I think there'll be plenty of takers for it, and Rafa's name won't make the shortlist.
Like i said on a previous post, we are not safe until the big fat lady starts singing. Everton will be an unpredictable team tonight and no-one knows how they will play, i for one am a little anxious.
I'd be nervous in your shoes too. Both of our clubs have a recent history of being complete ****-ups. However, looking in from the outside, there isn't too much for you to be nervous about. Maybe if Norwich win tonight that could pose a threat, but I honestly think you already have enough points to stay up.
That's the point, you are looking in from the outside and expecting us to win or at least get something from the game. We are in and looking at the outside and i am expecting a different Everton team than you lot are. I don't think this is going to be an easy game at all but would be more than happy if Everton did roll over for us. If we do stay up i would much rather be playing you lot than that bunch of sheep shagging tossers from outside England
Not suggesting it will be easy. No games are. I just don't see any fight in Everton at the minute and the biggest thing you have going for you is the way you are fighting. At this stage of the season that is the most important asset to have. Added to that you have brought in some decent players who have done well once they found their feet.
What's with the hate from Everton towards us? Has it always been there or is it because of Rafa? I've seen a good number of Twitter posts from Everton fans wanting to relegate us
