No one's born a catholic. That comes at least a few hours later, depending on how far you are from the nearest priest.

If selected, such a modest young man.

I guess this could potentially rule him and Matty T out of the Kelvin testimonial.
I know it's a short hop travel wise, but expect they'll want the squad together

So here is how it is going to pan out......Liverpool drop points against either Watford, Chelsea or West Brom. West Ham beat Manure but drop points at Stoke, Bompey win at Manure. Saints beat Palace at home.
Saints finish 5th on GD over Manure.

You know what I mean. I had no say in it. As soon as I was capable of logical thought and was able to distinguish fact from fantasy, I was a lapsed catholic. That was at about 10 years of age. I didn't tell my parents until I was an adult.

In his post match comments today, Graeme Souness talked about Saints having a successful season under the radar. Well, I know why we were under the radar, and that's because almost every opportunity to talk about Saints in pre and post match conversations was largely given over to talking about their opponents. However, what they missed throughout the second half of the season, and what they missed today, and will no doubt continue to miss, is Saints appallingly bad run of form going into the winter and running into the new year. Every team in the Premier League has a run of bad form. A bad team generally has amongst the worst. So when a team that could quite likely finish in the Europa League manages one run of bad form by obtaining 4 points out of a possible 24, you begin to wonder what they may have been capable of had they got say, a third of the points. 8 in fact. That's still bad form, but instead of clawing at Europa, we'd be safely there and bucking for Champions League. Make that bad run an average one instead, and we've got 12 points out of 24. That puts us behind Arsenal on GD on 68 points. So this is a bloody good season. I didn't quite realise just how good it potentially was until I factored in that awful run of 8 games , where we drew at home to Villa and lost to Stoke and Spurs. We lost away at ManC and WHU. Understandable, but we also lost to Palace and Norwich too. Palace were on the verge of not being able to buy a win and Norwich have not been upto PL standard throughout. So we would have had a tremendous season but for that run. Make no mistake, I'm not asking that we maintained the same form throughout the season, I'm just suggesting that if we had had a dip in form that hadn't been so bloody deep, this team had a big chance of playing Barca and Real Madrid next season. It makes you think what's possible.

Whilst WHU and ManU go head to head to play out their game in hand over other teams at Upton Park [OK, Boleyn Ground, if you must, but it's always been Upton Park as far back as I can remember], I see that Saints GD is one better than WHUs. This means that West Ham really ought to win on Tuesday or they'll have to beat Stoke at the Britannia, next Sunday. As long as Saints beat Palace at St Mary's, of course.

The dust has nowhere near settled on this season. :)

West Ham have scored six goals more, so if they do draw Tuesday, we will have to win by at least the same margin to make sure of finishing ahead of them.

Yes, that's if everything else remains equal. The scenarios are:

If they lose on Tuesday, their already inferior goal difference of one becomes worse. So even if they win on Sunday and Saints win, we can't be caught, by the simple fact that we'll have one more point.

If WHU draw tomorrow, we'll still have the one goal better GD. So, as you say, if we both win on Sunday, we must match their game goal difference on the day.

It's true, WHU have it in their own hands. Win both matches and they finish higher. But they have a resurgent ManU, who have the enormous incentive of Champions League football to qualify for, and on Sunday they are away to Stoke. A fixture I wouldn't be at all happy about pinning my hopes on, if I was a WHU fan. Thankfully, I'm not.

And to deprive us of at least 7th, Liverpool have to win both games. Most important thing is to win against Palace of course, but should we do that, two teams have to do well to deprive us of 7th...but I'd rather be certain of Europe and come 6th.

Koeman mentioned this training class a couple of days ago. A great experience for the kids and for Sammy (who didn't feel quite as short as usual:)).

I went for Long again in that one...he has been behind the turn around this year. Even Ronald says that he wouldn't want to play against him....a right pest for defenders. But very hard as so many have turned in good performances. If he'd started earlier, Tadic must have been in with a shout. He has been a revelation lately...let's hope he keeps that going next season. And Virgil...he is going to be a legend for us. The return of Forster has made a massive difference....if only he could have carried on with those clean sheets :)

Aye, was very tricky this year. Could easily be any of a half dozen players IMO. Voted for Davis as i think his impact on the team is most obvious when he's absent and his loyalty and ridiculously high workrate deserve acknowledgement (didnt hurt his chances last sunday either) but any of VVD, Ryan, Shane and Jose could lay a fair claim in my eyes.

Interesting, Swansea the only team we've done the double over this season.
