Swansea City v Manchester City Premier League Sunday, 15 May Kick off 15:00 Liberty Stadium The 38th and final Premier League match of the season sees revitalised Swansea take on Manchester City at the Liberty Stadium. Thankfully, with relegation fears eliminated and sitting in a healthy 11th position, the Swans' players and fans can largely relax and enjoy the occasion. City on the other hand need a victory to try and secure a Champions League spot in next season's competition. The Swans will come into the match on the back of an impressive 4-1 victory at West Ham, their first victory at the Boleyn Ground since 1956 - the year before I was born Meanwhile, City were drawing with Arsenal 2-2, a result which meant that a Top 4 finish was no longer in their own hands. In the corresponding match last season, City ran out 4-2 winners. Wilfried Bony scored on his return to Swansea as Manchester City secured a place in the Champions League group stages by winning a thriller. Yaya Toure opened the scoring for City with a deflected effort, before James Milner slid in a stylish second. Gylfi Sigurdsson pulled one back just before half-time with a lovely strike, and then Bafetimbi Gomis equalised. But Toure squeezed a second under Lukasz Fabianski, before substitute Bony rolled in a fourth via the post. The result ensured a top-three Premier League finish for Manchester City but put Europa League qualification beyond eighth-placed Swansea. This season's match could see the final game in charge of their respective clubs for both Managers. Pellegrini is being replaced by Pep Guardiola whilst doubts continue to persist that Guidolin will stay at Swansea when his short term contract comes to an end after this match. Given that Man City have to win, I think that they will have the greater desire on the day, and I am going for a 1-3 victory for the Blue side of Manchester. I hope everybody has a relaxing and enjoyable Summer - see you next season!
This is Man c managers last game before being replaced and how he has conducted himself through most of the season knowing he is not wanted deserves some credit. They are a massive team who have under performed to their standard due to the unrest of the players who have also been told they are not wanted for next season...(Bony is one of those players by the way)......Will man City turn up and give their manager a last win send off or will they turn up like a damp squib just going through the motions, However they turn up we have to be on our guard and well disciplined to match them or with the caliber of players they have they will run riot. Im finding it very difficult to predict this one and hope we put in a good performance against a top team....
"first victory at the Boleyn Ground since 1956 - the year before I was born" Chill out! It was the year after I was born............. Thanks for doing the match day threads Taff, very much appreciated, I'm sure by all.........
Hoping for 3 points , desperate for at least 1 point and I'll leave it at that ...............................................Phil . Naughton, Fernandez , Amat , Kingsley , Barrow , Ki , Fer , Cork, Routledge . Ayew Worked pretty good last time . Super ending to a dramatic season regardless of this result . Most were shocked after the previous season's success to this seasons mess but Curtis and Guidolin brought us back to success with failure looming . Well done to both for the 32 points in 22 games , but a special thanks to Curtis for building something to even hand over to Guidolin after a board built mess was handed to Curtis . I hope the pair of Bandits will return but that is not for us to decide .2-1 Swans ........49 points .
Its been a strange season for sure. As for Man City being a big team not so sure after today, less than 15000 stayed to cheer the team after last home game.
Man city are a massive team, there are only 3 or 4 teams in the world i would class as bigger, why would anyone stay behind the way their board have conducted themselves.....To tell the manager and some players in the middle of the season they are going to be replaced at the end of the season is down right shocking and im surprised they have done as well as they have tbh.
This will be very hard, Man city need to win to ensure Champions League. I actually think we will give this a right go, but they will have to much for us and it will be the same score as last season.
If Man U beat West Ham tonight, Man City will be fifth - even a win would not guarantee them Champions League. They'll be praying United drop points tonight. This is certainly a huge match for City either way. Could have a rather large impact on which players sign for Pep.
A fired up team ah la West Ham against a Man City team that can't be arsed to put in a performance for Pellegrini, Swans win!!!
Arsenal lost one game in they're last ten ...to us .West Ham at home have been unbeatable .....till us .Both with everything to play for . Not holding out to much hope for Man City to be honest .
West Ham fans were saying on their forums that they'd be fired up for Saturday and that we were already on the beach. Can't predict this at all.
Another Swansea win, with Ayew and Gomis scoring, in a 2-0 win, to turn Jenkins headache into a migraine, regarding what to do with Guidolin.!!
I am a little more worried about this because the little I have seen of Nordfelt, I have not been that impressed, not a bad shot stopper, but awful on crosses and doesn't command his box. http://www.southwales-eveningpost.c...ki-join-list/story-29249216-detail/story.html
The idea of winning a game and it making a problem has me baffled, I've heard it a few times now .I understand the concept , just can't get passed it fundamentally but there it is
Well he's having his chance , he played reasonably well v Oxford and made some classy saves but having a poor defensive performance from some who should have been better than they were imo he was left exposed too many times .If we lose it wouldn't be a disaster and it gives the manger a final chance to see how he can perform under undoubted pressure from some world class players .
The result isn't that important, but it is a bit late in the day to see if he is good enough and he can perform. I suppose though as a second choice keeper your only chance is the cups and we haven't exactly done to well in those this year.
We may need him at some point ,hopefully not because Fab decides to move on but who can say in this game so why not give him a chance, albeit a forced one .
The result is neither here or there for me even though it would be nice to win. The performance i am more interested in against a team full of arguably better players. I want to see how Guildo tackles this one and what game plan he has up his sleeve......If we lose 1 or 2 nil and the performance has been good and Man city with their superior players was made to work hard for the win i will be happy. There has to be as many shots on target for us as they have to show we tried our hardest. A win would be Perfect end to the season though and Guildo has to be given the job no doubt about it.....
