I have to say mate, I think Taylor is nothing more than an average, left back, He stands to far off his wingers and allows them to get by him with their pace and his lack of it, He cant cross a ball and he stifles whoever plays in front of him with either taking to long to get the ball to the winger so he is closed down or running directly into the wingers space, he is also prone to make idiotic challenges and give away needless free kicks often in dangerous positions.. I think if we were just to look around the top end of the Championship we would find 4 or 5 better LB. I would be more than happy to move him on and have Kingsley and A N other in his place. What I will say for him he does put a shift in normally, but that simply isnt enough.
I seem to recall that Taylor was always more adventurous going forward than he turned out in the end. Pity really, as now he's always looking for the back pass.
I agree , he's not the finished article by any stretch but with further development , game time then I'm convinced he's more that capable of replacing Taylor at some point .
Bad choice of words on my part . Naughton started every game I think under Monk , but so was 9 other guys . Monks 10 guys he started every game , weren't under his wing , they were flung out there ever game learning nothing except how not to win . When Curtis took over , Naughton was in the doghouse , along with Montero but Guidolin has slowly brought them back with confidence . The Naughton that played all those games under Monk wasn't half the player that turned up against West Ham . Same with Kingsley , he wasn't " Filling in "yesterday , he was leading the way .
I know curtis very well and what he says in private is usually not what he says in public.......He is what i call a yes man and will say whatever the club wants him to say as he is as loyal to the club as anyone can be but in private his story can be a bit different.....He is a top guy...
Excellent post Roof, very insightful, though Naughton has been out of favour since Monk has gone...............
If players in the caliber of Kingsley and some of the U23 players are to go by then things are looking very bright. If they can put in a performance like they have and are not the finished article yet then im very optimistic about our future...
Taylor has never been quite the same since coming back from injury, my view is that Kingsley should be ahead of him now, he's got a far bigger presence at LB, and it will push Taylor to push himself more, he's playing with too much fear for my liking............
Curtis likes Everyone and that's his nature. he wont say a bad word about anyone except the officials who run the match.....for instance we were in the pub down the mumbles and someone mentioned Gomis lack of goals and being off side all the time and he said that the ref is to quick to blow for off side when he is just on side and has spoiled his chances of scoring......Curtis is far to nice to be a manager and he knows it...
The fans gave Guidolin they're full backing yesterday. At times we rode our luck, at times we were majestic, playing some outstanding, even breathtaking football. At 3-1 we would have folded in the past, but Guidolin is developing that defensive toughness to see games out. He f*****d up big time at Newcastle and Leicester (or the players did), but overall I feel he deserves his chance for next season. It looks as though it will be someone else though, with Rogers and Pellegrinis names being touted. We could be parting company with, I think, our most successful manager in the Premier League based on a games/points ratio.
As you have mentioned in previous posts, we have had three managers this season and a bit of stability would be ideal. Guidolin has got to know the players (it's not just him, but his coaching staff as well) and looking at them yesterday they looked as though they were loving it. He has huge experience. He has adapted to a foreign country (even with a serious illness) and seems to be learning quickly. He has shown he can play attractive football and defensive football. He has done his Premier League apprenticeship here. Let's hope we don't hand that training over to Watford.
Well said PGF, I feel he deserves another contract, but the way our board are behaving lately, I wouldn't be surprised at anything now, not keen on going back in for Rodgers, we can do better................
