If we could get him on the cheap i'd have him, he's a below average full back at the moment but potentially a very good one and he's definitely on an upward curve having had a run in the side. I think he's better than jones and i'm not convinced mathews actually exists so must be better than him, so if he's a batgain we should snap him up, if a better option is availible we should persue that as well like.
Yeah, I agree, you can't question the lads commitment, and he's working hard to improve. But I just don't see the quality to move us forward. We seem to do this whole sinario every year, when the new manger comes in. I just hope big sam can keep the players committed for next season, and bring further quality in. That's if we stay up of course.
Well he played a perfect pass for Costa what with the ball being kicked into his shins from a yard away! Guess it was him playing everyone onside for the second too! Can't fathom that first sentence at all!
I think he's the weakest link in our team, personally. I agree he's improved but I wouldn't want him as our first choice RB next season, but fine as back up.
Honestly I don't think he's worth more then £2 Wouldnt worry me if BSA looked elsewhere if Ripoff Levy wanted more...
Similar threads being made about Vergini and Coates in the past. Are you lot getting sucked in again by the famous 'SAFC survival Spirit'? You need changes to that squad and he's certainly one of the poorest full backs in this league.
Last time we bought a defender based on a few games at the end of the season, we ended up with Coates Yedlin is still young, is very raw, has pace, and gets himself into some good positions.. but that's the same as PVA (Although PVA is more of an attacking threat imo - plus he's ours), and we can't have two liabilities on both wings. M'Villa has been in covering PVA when he's bombing up the wings, as does Borini. As someone mentioned earlier I would take Yedlin, so long as he isn't one of Levy's usual way over priced buys, and his wages aren't obscene. A back up player to a true first team full back. Having youth in the wings waiting is always good, and something we should be doing.
Spot on, we need better, or its here we go again next season, IF we stay, up every team in this league will be potentially stronger next season and its time we started to compete or we will be doomed. Its quality we need, our last transfer window must be built on and I am hopefull we can avoid these fractious loan deals that only benefit the lenders.
I don't think there's any question we want better if possible, the question is is he worth keeping. I say 100% on a level he is. It's been a tough season and he's grown, he could easily have shirked it. There's a lot to be said for mentality nowadays, the lads shown some character. I like him.
As you have read. He divides opinions. You like him. He scares the **** out of me. And everything inbetween
Aye, and I don't disagree with the failings. It's a funny one but if the price is right. Shane we've not seen Matthews he was superb when I went to Celtic v Inter, was looking forward to seeing himz
I wouldn't describe either of them as "liabilities" to be fair. Certainly both liable to the odd cock-up, but I think both of them have improved the defensive side of their game massively since Sam came in. No reason to believe that won't continue, especially when he gets a full pre-season with them. Personally, I think we're perfectly fine having two attack-minded full backs, purely because of how good a job Kirchhoff does of screening the back 4.
Mate gotta agree. When i said liabilities, I meant defensively as they have both been incredibly suspect in defending - but are good going forward. But since Sam has come in, PVA has improved ten fold (although still has a long way to go before he gets up to Cashley Cole levels) and Yedlin never really got in ahead of Jones until he got injured. But watching them yesterday, Yedlin was unlucky in their goal, but set up Defoe, and PVA set up Borini. In terms of how we play, we need fast attacking wingers, so long as Kirchoff remains fit, and Kaboul and Kone do aswell, I think they will be good to have on the books. The defence now since BSA has come in has improved remarkably. It is plain as day since the Dick days. I think under Sam both PVA and Yedlin will improve. Now when it comes to buying Yedlin, I don't want us to be held to ransom. I think he is worth maybe 2-3million, not 5+ Levy will undoubtedly try and charge us. Edit: We got Kichoff for 750k... and look at the absolute ****ing steal that is so long as he remains fit!
Just seen the goals again and that was a peach of a ball from PVA for Fabio weren't it? Millimetre shorter, or slightest bit slower it's intercepted.
