The great escape just wasn't going to happen for Newcastle United. That was dreadful. It didn't look like some of the players really cared anymore. "It's only Aston Villa, we should destroy these lot". -.- Ratings - Darlow - 6 - Some decent saves and claims, but not much to do. Anita - 8 - Excellent defensively and some excellent forward play. Mbemba - 7.5 - Good defending, saved us with some excellent defensive headers and got forward quite well. Lascelles - 7 - Not much to do but solid. Dummett - 4 - Good early on, but started to look shakey at the end. Gave away stupid fouls. Townsend - 6 - Some great deliveries but we couldn't do anything with them. Not as good as he's been recently. Gave away possession in key areas too often. Tiote - 7 - Should never have been taken off. Colback - 4- Tenacious but not quality. The Villa players sometimes rang rings around him. Wijnaldum - 2 - ****e. ****ing lazy and just ****e. Sissoko - 3 - Another lazy arsehole. Hope we get rid as soon as we possibly can. Cisse - 3 - Some good link up play but some ****e finishing and decision making. Mitro - 5.5 - Good work rate, some good knock downs, made a difference, but should have scored at least one. Benitez - 5 - Bad decision to start Cisse, but can't blame him too much. We just aren't good enough and didn't finish our chances. Kept the defence solid and had the right idea, but some poor decisions from him. De Jong - n/a - When he comes on, you know you're ****ed.
well, we were ****ed before Rafa came in - he gave us some hope, wins, bit of joy in a piss season They did the hard things right in the last few weeks against the big teams, but because we are the only team in the league unable to beat Villa in two attempts means we are going down, down, down. Hope rafa fancies the championship... but i doubt it balls
**** me if you can't beat villa then hey ho ya doomed.......i wish we were Doon weeks ago tbh. Its the hope that kills you.....any way tramps to loose next 2 lads to beat spurs....its simple eh..ktf
Mostly right, but Rafa deserves -173 for his selection and the tactics. Mitrovic deserves -10,000,000, the amount we'll lose trying to flog the ****, for his misses. Useless bastard.
Well I've enjoyed the last few weeks, but all for nothing in the end. Very poor today. We can't argue that we deserve to go down now.
We beat a very good Chelsea today, so we should beat Everton and that is that. We battled like hell getting in there everywhere that's how we won.
Didn't see it either. However as we didn't concede in my opinion the defence has done it's job. Since Rafa has got to grips with the squad, and played lascelles and mbemba in the middle, Dummett has done a decent job as has Anita as far as I'm concerned. It's the attack that's been the problem.
We've been crucified, as was always likely, by Mike Ashley's woeful approach to business; his tiny circle of trust that allowed a glorified tea-boy take charge of pretty much everything has just come to roost, is all. Charnley made some of the most appalling decisions time and again, to the point where relegation became inevitable. Allowing Pardew to remain in charge without ever allowing him real responsibility, then Carver, then McClarts, then Coloccini contract, then no defenders before finally relenting to give a man of experience free rein. Too little, far too late. Sunderland - needed to get out of trouble and score a few goals; appointed Allardyce and signed Defoe, with plenty of games left. Job done, fair play - but I'm not sad about it. I don't really see the point in perennially struggling in the top flight year on year. Sunderland don't seem to have a good strategy going forward (though obviously we don't either..."pound for pound", you fcking bespectacled bellend). There's more to life than top flight football, far more. Leicester themselves were in League One not long ago. Southampton ditto. If you get basics and structure right, then our club has the best potential of any to come up at some point. I'll never just give up - football's very often about the 90 minutes in front of you. I mean, Villa have it far worse than we do yet have far more success than we do, more recently. Yet they're getting on with it. So should we. More than a few think going down will at least have its' benefits - I can't wait to see the back of Sissoko, Wijnaldum, Janmaat, Colo, Taylor and anyone else who doesn't fancy it. If we can keep that back four I'm a happy bunny, we just need proper reinforcements. I don't think everyone will jack it in - I reckon Townsend will stay, and Shelvey, and Colback. A lot of our players are grade A Championship with a few who are genuinely PL class; I'm excited by the thought of tanking Burton Albion at SJP, why the fck not?! Life goes on.
