Berry was a bit on Carntop. He ran green and Berry didn't have him balanced on top. Full marks to Levey
Just backed Valley Of Fire at 80s on the exchange in the Victoria Cup. Nicely weighted and in my opinion has been crying out for 7f. Been off a while but if fit to go is weighted to run well.
Wasn't on anything today but have to say Fran Berry isn't the best of jockeys-seen him give many a poor ride,he's no Pat Smullen that's for sure
Stewards enquiry needed I am sorry but there is something not right about today's racing. At Lingfield there was a jockey listed with mounts under the name Jamie Spencer, this jockey rode like a top top pro producing two fantastic winners from great rides. There was also a horse listed at Ascot called Buckstay, a runner with the same jockey listed, this Jockey took a mammoth pull from the stalls and dropped his mount out for no reason and gave everything a start, he then came with a wet sail from the other side of the course from which he was drawn and just failed, this jockey was inept in the extreme....... OK who is who, I suggest you check the passport of this intruder at Lingfield, it may well be Johnny Murtagh in a Jamie mask.
You just can't beat a 26 runner handicap over 7 furlongs on the flat - its why we all love horse racing
Why does it bother you. If you don't like him don't back him. He can't get it right every time. He won the seventeen runner one last night at 25/1. He finished third today what more do you want?
Surreal scenes at Leicester City currently. Ranieri stood next to the premier league trophy and an Italian opera singer!
That Flash Fire still owes me money from Goodwood last year – along with virtually everything else I backed at the Not So Glorious meeting. It will probably not win another race all season but well done to Adam Kirby. If I were having a bet, I would oppose Nyquist because whilst he is the best horse in the race on last season’s form, the race is a not a great one for favourites and whilst he has what seems to be a favourable draw (unlucky 13 if you are superstitious) it is not where he wanted to be as the potential lead horses are outside him. I will, of course, be delighted if he proves me wrong and maintains his unbeaten record.
It was funny seeing Ranieri during the match when it was raining wearing some sort of blue tent from which all we could see was his face. If he had an antenna, they would be signing him up for the Telletubbies!
So many assumptions in there Doalittle. It doesn't especially bother me, it's simply passing critique of his riding which would be a natural thing for a horse racing forum, a bit like saying how rubbish a manger Roberto Martinez is at Everton at present if on a football forum, it doesn't mean you are offended it just means you are passing sharing a view on a forum, and of course some may disagree and think he is great. I also never backed him as I was on Predominence who got no run at all unfortunately but could not help notice how bad a ride Spencer gave his horse. I also don't dislike Jamie as he comes across quite well actually and seems to have a sense of humour ( not just expressed through his riding) I do however think he has a terrible tactical racing brain which consists of using overt hold up tactics as default too often and believing every horse he rides regardless of grade can be expected to pick up in the style of Dancing Brave, juxtapose this with Ryan Moore who gives 99 out of 100 rides the best possible chance of winning and you are left a bit frustrated at Jamie. I do back a Spencer horse sometimes ( not often) as you just feel he is on the best horse and you hope for the best and that he will not have a brain wave in that race, but if he does you accept it as it's not as if you haven't seen it before from him. And back to his ride today it was poor to every race watcher I would imagine, and so it's not that he didn't win it's that he took an overt pull placing himself at the back of a big field and giving perhaps 10 lengths to the leading horses. He also ensures by doing so he has to either have amazing luck coming through or come around the outside, so he gave 10 lengths, had to switch to the outside and come perhaps 10 horses width off the rail he was against and then lost by an ever decreasing couple of lengths. It was poor and I remarked about it. I did also give credit where it was due at Lingfield however, it's just the sort of thing that happens on a horse racing forum.
Guess result was never in doubt, Nyquist is a pretty good racehorse. The Californian entry Exaggerator ran well too. San Vicente Stakes form at Santa Anita in February solidly confirmed?
Lovely horse so he is, think I was up late posting about him on his penultimate start but not many were up to chatter with me, missed last night's race, look forward to seeing it when I get home later Some good winners today, well done all.
Apologies for misreading your post. I just can't understand why you think it was such a bad ride. In my opinion had he been three or four lengths closer after the break he would have ran into simular trouble as many of the horses in the main group did. He was drawn in stall seven, which is closer to the far rail, and was able to give him the option of switching right or left. He eventually was able to switch left and get a run down the near side. It was a reasonable ride in my view and probably doesn't deserve a post which begins with "Stewards enquiry needed"
