Top has said they are looking into expanding the King Power Stadium and they are even considering building a new stadium!
They have planning permission for expansions but a new stadium in interesting - same site or a new one? Will probably end up on the outskirts of Leicester.
****in ell. I guess it would be a brand new one with us staying at the king Power til it´s done. That´s unless we extend the king Power that is. If true/happens, it shows that these guys are here forever & a day.
Depends on the site - KP can become 50000+ by expanding all of the stands but might not be feasible which is why they mentioned a new stadium.
The King Power Stadium can reach a capacity if 45,000. You can build on all the stands other then the west stand If we did look at building a new ground it would probably be around the 55,000-60,000 mark i would guess No point in building anything smaller
So what would they do with the KPS then if a new one is built. ? Would be good for the Tigers if they are not happy with what they've got. Better area & parking.
I think we would try and turn it into a arena for music and stuff like that Or we could remove Man City from having the best reserve ground in the country
Expanding the east stand would make the most sense, new ground would surely be a step too far and then some. 42,000 would be a good size imo once the whole bravado of prem/champ league exploits is over and we have stabilized ourselves in the prem.
It is more of the case that if that does happen then it is a lot more work then expected as the foundations need to be reinforced and we would need to move out while that is happening. Strange as it seems, it might actually work out cheaper to build a new ground from scratch.
why would a new ground be a step too far ?? our owners have ambition they have finance and what is more they have experience of building hotels and shopping complexes in Thailand. So a new stadium with mixed use may not be out of the question perhaps incorporating the Pullman 5 star hotel Leicester with fine dinning thrown in as well its not beyond the realms of possibility. or shopping they have the links through their duty free operations with the big names in fashion. i am sure they are here for the long term regardless of which ever option they take our success can only have spread the name of king power around the globe
Yep.... King Power will be a global name ! I seem to remember an ad I fronted years ago for a furniture store. Some of you older peeps might remember it ? I was dressed in a green leotard and was running in slow motion, with voice over saying gruffly," Pound Power " then " as you walk through the door, your pounds worth more", etc etc Must have a word with Top, re, branding
... not as daft as it first sounds - the Tigers sell Welford Rd to developers - move in to KP stadium - City move to new purpose built ground ...
Tigers have just expanded their ground with it easy to expand further when ready and is an iconic ground - not a chance of them moving
Would hate to move out now that we're starting to get a bit of history there. It may be one of the newer grounds but every stadium had to start somewhere. Lets put a couple of tiers on it and stay. I reckon we could fill 45k pretty easily.
Of all the new stadiums none of seen history like ours Administration, promotion, relegation, relegation to league 1, league 1 winners, championship winners, great escape, Premier league winners
