Well.... not really enough but it's a start. We cannot afford a slow start to the second half or lack of concentration.

Wouldn't call Moreno an absolute liability. That's seriously clutching at straws to scapegoat the kid. They've had one or two attacks in that whole half. He's also made one good interception from behind. Yeah he got caught out once, but he's leading a lot of the attacking play on that left side. People need to accept that attacking fullbacks are what makes this system tick. Yes he should pay attention to his runners and get back sooner, but he's been having some good footwork with Coutinho and we haven't conceded.

Not sure why Villareal are so aggressive. Hopefully it gets one of them sent off.

Defensively he's brain dead though. A full back is primarily a defender and the lad simply can't defend. He has zero awareness of danger.

Good half it seems. Match that in 2nd half and should be enough... definitely need 2 more though, annoying thing is if we score a 2nd, we'll prob ease off and start inviting pressure on ourselves.

And that worries me. They're not a quarter as good as Dortmund.

Funny reading this thread after watching that first half

The game is niggly and the referee has made errors on some of his calls (both ways), but the prime frustration from the Vilarreal players is down to the fact they've been out worked and have been able to create little due to your intensity

Can you maintain that level for 90 minutes though? We'll see.

You should see these off 2nd half, but the away goal remains the elephant in the room until you rack up 3.

Hate "scapegoat" explanation....we're playing great not poorly. Not blaming him for a team performance just his own.

I'm criticising his primary role...he's been targeted all match because he doesn't get back quick enough.

When he has been back he's ran out and been passed into channel behind him not once but four times...twice they've got a shot off as a result...luckily both scuffed.

It's not happening on the right to Clyne...is he not a "modern fullback "???

Aside from the one opportunity around 25 minutes in, when was he brain dead in that half?

Well that was ok , Villareal look as threatening as a Manc wum these days .
A nice little 88th minute goal for a 2-0 win would be nice .
