Today's referee, Bobby Madley, has yet to officiate a Brighton loss this season. On the other hand, Derby have lost 4 of the 5 games he's done for them. Him on the play-offs please!
Derby Weakness 1: Corners. Brighton keep putting a man on Carson and it's causing all sorts of problems with him unable to get out. Had a few close shaves with conceding already.
I was talking to a mate of mine who's a Derby fan after the away game we both went to and he said that was the best Derby had played all season and wasn't a typical performance; we caught them on a good day.
It's also worth noting: with the games we've had, we've been able to rotate and rest. We've not shown out hand in terms of the starting 11 Bruce will go with. On the other hand, the team Derby have out now (and the formation) is likely what'll they go with should we play at Derby first.
Am I right in saying, if the first game is a draw then Burnley win, they're promoted because Boro and Brighton can't BOTH win next weekend?
I just cannot believe that Derby have not had the decency to rest anyone.. shocking management IMO. Our scouts will be there and will be learning all sorts of things, like Brighton is great place when the sun shines.
Their win at City was also 'the most complete away performance in several years' according to some of their fans.
Derby weakness 2: Full back. The midfield three is so compact to allow the full backs to offer the width but it means when they're being attacked, neither the right back nor the left back have been offered any cover/protection from Ince/Russell or from the midfield three. As a result, Brighton have managed a number of crosses causing some problems for the centre backs. Christie (at right back) has not got back into position a few times, too, when switching from an attack back to defending. Brighton's full backs have enjoyed far too much space down the wings.
