Oh, and by the way, up to my usual antics with stoppage time. First half, one min (Villa's goal celebration) so correct. Second half: red card, loads of subs, loads of free kicks, loads of injuries, loads of Bunn changing sides to take the kick from. I timed it as, wait for it, TEN mins of stoppages. Ref gave 5. Unless there's a serious injury, I can't see a ref ever giving more than 5.
Sorry, must have been the late win win that made me confused. Bloody threads, so much is lost just in writing....

Awful. Just awful. The first time in a long time that a win doesn't feel like a win. What is he playing at? Why did he not play Berghaus and Amrabat from the off?! It was obvious at West Ham that they should be playing. Not a happy Hornette.
Width.... give us some width...... On reflection .... given the bizarre result... maybe not such a bad afternoon. QSF has done his job for us.. But for me tactically the second half of the season has been, dare I say it, as a feast constipating..... the same diet, no variety, predictable..... just like school dinners in the old days.... I think Joka would have done a very different job for us this season. He was one manager who could change a game tactically in an instant and it was great to watch his teams as a result. Having lived and supported throughout the GT years where we played with flair and positivity and used the whole pitch etc etc... the second half of the season has been turgid
A1, as far as I'm aware, unless the ref gives players a warning for taking too long with set pieces, then there isn't any time added for those.
If you survived school dinners in the old days you can survive anything ! I was always amazed that the vegetables, whatever their original colour, all blended into a similar kind of grey when on the plate.
Ridiculous. It adds up so quickly when a team's time-wasting. So funny to see Bunn suddenly move quickly when they were 3-2 down.
Exactly so. Watching the Newcastle v Palace game on MOTD last night there was one clear example of how players 'abuse' the rules. A Newcastle player felt a hand on his back - not a shove, just a light touch - and fell over clutching his face, rolled on the ground apparently in agony for around 30 seconds, then got up and slowly walked back to his position whilst shaking his head and rubbing his eye. Probably 45 seconds wasted over something that never actually happened. It needs to be stopped, but how - I've no idea.
I always just get on with the game. They soon learn when the play is going on around them. I actually got pillaried at half time for allowing the full eight or nine minutes in the first half of a cup final (a cup final ffs) after a nasty injury to one of the keeper's. The score was 4-0 at half time, finished 6-2 if I recall but the referee secretary told me I should have stopped the game at 45. Hmmmm....
I would agree with he sentiment but for 3 things... 1) Every position in the final league table is worth £1.2m. What is the employer/owner going to think if the head coach arbitrarily tries out youth because we are safe ? (Unless the head coach has agreement to do same, which I suppose is possible). 2) I think we have a real problem with the circumstances of the academy. Because it was set up when we were in the Championship, we were only likely to attract boys capable of Championship football at best. So getting promoted last season - there is a 2/3 (at least) year timelag before we can deliver youngsters with the necessary quality for the rigours of the Prem. A gem (Obi ?) may turn up, but it is unreasonable to expect any. 3) The Pozzo model seems to be to acquire good gems - already plying their trade in someone's first team. I really hope our academy does succeed, but it won't be yet.
I believe we're now in a window of 3 positions maybe 4 in the final table between winning all 3 and losing all 3. With the worry off there is benefit in trying a bit of variety Ighalo needs a rest and playing more expansive front 3rd of the pitch is a no risk with the stock we have in the player bank. Total of 5 million is peanuts in the current situation compared to creating value in players for the transfer season. I think if the rumors are true the reason is that we haven't increased the value of the squad sufficiently as all the other performance metrics seem to have been met.
Apparently a Villa player has said we were the worst team they played all season. Can't say i'm surprised!
On that showing we probably were. They were not, however, the worst team we have played, which may have been a surprise for Flores - hats off to a side already relegated who, after such a miserable season, can still play with heart for their club (some of our players should be taking note). Hats off also to their supporters for being sold out for such a match.
