Morning all A good days racing from HQ. The palace house looks a bit of a lottery and I'm going for iffranesia for Robert cowell . He does well with his sprinters and it's by one of thr princess favourite stallions.in. The jockey club I'm taking a chance with simple verse . I know she got the penalty but she was a quality horse last year and looks value at the price. In the Guineas I was impressed with stormy antartic in the craven and I've an incline for frankies mount. Cheers.
Qm I'm intrigued by your betting strategy for someone who does so much research when it comes to finance, you are happy to follow the bookies advice. You seem to have no views of your own.
Have taken a poke on Marcel as per my reasoning in the Guineas/Punchestown thread. Thought he won the Racing Post Trophy like a favourite would have- quickening from last to first in no time and keeping on every inch of the mile. I'm intrigued by Exosphere up against Jack Hobbs- I think the former will be suited by a step up in trip and perhaps on reappearance might be best time to oppose Jack Hobbs, but clearly small stakes as he is a tough nut to crack. Over at Punchestown in the bumper I am keen to see RATHNURE REBEL and he is bred to appreciate this nice ground. The other eye catcher in that is that Katie Walsh is booked for MISS TYNTE, so I may play each way at around the 25/1 mark.
Scatter gun approach to betting on in the NH sphere at Punchy and Uttox, far too many to mention but making hay while the NH sun shines. As far as flat goes I'm limiting my financial interest to Hugo Palmer charges. So Galileo Gold in the Guineas, Strong Steps in the opener and Twitch over at Goodwood. Got to mention the injury to young claimer Tommy Dowling in a fall yesterday at Fontwell, at the first hurdle of his first race of the new campaign. Busted shoulder, collar bone and ribs and just for good measure he may have fractured his pelvis and bruised his kidneys. These guys put themselves through the ringer for our pleasure. Good luck all having a punt today but most of all best wishes to young Tommy for a full recovery.
15:45 Newmarket - Galileo Gold e/w (Tried to find one with some sort of chance for my Saturday punt, and found this one at the freely-available 14/1 at the moment. Hugo Palmer's colt looks a good possibility to reach the frame in my very humble opinion?). Just finished a Käsestange (just a long bread roll with grilled cheese on top) which I 'enhanced' with a bit of peppered ham and chili, all with the usual Tegernseer 'Spezial'. Ah, the joys of retirement, it ain't too bad at all. Now for the Saturday horseracing. Very best of luck everyone!
My girl LIMINI drifting like a barge today. I backed her at 5/4 this morning in hope she'd gain some market support. All the money piling on the JP owned 4 yo, SLOWMOTION, whose getting the allowances and we know these 4yo look a super bunch. More omniously the JP money has barely been wrong this week at all, he's had a good number backed off the boards who have duly obliged. Can't say I'm confident, just hope she runs her race but having done the Cheltenham/Aintree/Punchestown trio has got to extremely tough, and even more so for a mare.
Three flutters for me today Mutamakkin should go close in the first at HQ after a pipe opener a couple of weeks ago.Skybet money back offer if second/third. Quantativeeasing/Apples Jade/Jack Hobbs treble 7/2 Desoto County looks laid out for 5.35 at Punchy and 8/1 nice Ew price
Bolger has the front 3 in the market in the opener at Punchy but think the 3rd choice Be Positive will be the 1 winning, beat a neck by Sizing Australia 2 years ago (as i type Cantlow has just been withdrawn) As mentioned above the 4yo Irish form is solid this year and i like Slowmotion to beat Limini who has run at Cheltenham and Aintree. Think the Obrien horse Ivanovich Gorbatov will get back in front today, absolutely hates slow ground and back to a sounder surface should be seen to his Cheltenham winning best. In the sprint i like Take Cover and also Spirit Quartz who i think looks terrific value. In the 2000G Buratino for me another excellent ew shot at 18s
Spencer can't help himself ! just gave the well backed Bateel a stinker of a ride for no reason at all. Put at the back and even when you thought he was going to come with a run down the outside he pulls him into the pack and weaves through. The Simcock second string won because it didn't have Spencer on, swap jockeys you swap placing. Why do they employ this fool? he should be a work rider and nothing else, great hands but no brain.
If ever I fancy a horse and I see Frank Spencer has the mount, it always puts me off. The race just now reminded me why. Why on earth did he keep Bateel right at the back and then try to run through a wall of 12 horses when he could have had a clear run down the outside?
Dexcite at 3.50 in the 13:50 at Uttoxeter Zamdy Man at 2.88 in the 14:25 at Uttoxeter Goken at 17.00 in the 14:30 at Newmarket Pomme De Terre at 7.50 in the 14:45 at Thirsk Russian Realm at 15.00 in the 14:50 at Goodwood Good luck! http://freebetcalc.com/odds-calculator/canadian-calculator?prefill=3.50,2.88,17.00,7.50,15.00
Definte advantage on the near side at Newmarket as the far side had the speed merchant Take Cover to blaze out and still didn't win from the much smaller group. In such an open market for the places in the 2000 Zonderland must be worth a few quid EW at 66-1 after that remark from Clive Cox !
I agree Ron, won't be backing anything he rides again! Drops the horse out the back so we could all see what's coming.......angles the horse out wide so I'm thinking ok, he might have a chance here......but no, why take the easy option and go down the outside, let's go back inside to a wall of horses instead!
