When Riga is sacked, either now or in November due to poor form, I can see Chris O'Loughlin being installed. He fits all the requirements to be a first class Duchatelet puppet. 1) Nobody has ever heard of him? Check - He spent his playing career in Northern Ireland before coaching in nothing leagues in three continents. 2) Former history of working in the network? Check - He has spent a year at St Trudien after taking over from other network stooge Yannick Ferrera. 3) Cheap? Check - Young and obscure, he has also just been sacked by Duchatelet so may already be on the payroll. 4) Young? Check - Only 37 so fits in with Duchatelet's idea that youth = potential and probably naive enough that he can be easily manipulated by Duchatelet. 5) British? Check - We keep hearing noises that Smithers has been attempting to convince Duchatelet to buy British. In his warped mind, Duchatelet probably thinks this would appease the fans. No doubt the CAFC Media team would parade him about as proof that Duchatelet listens to fans and the same idiots would give him another 6 month stay of execution. This guy would be perfect for Duchatelet, a total puppet that won't question the status quo, cheap because he is a complete non-entity and has the added benefit of being British.
Yep - I think that's the general consensus. A few weeks back there was a story, with quotes attributed to Murray I believe, where they said more emphasis would be made to hire British. This is what they meant.
It was just after that Murray proved as good as his word, by signing 3 British players- Poyet, Williams and Johnson If Roland wasn't thinking of getting O'Loughlin in before he read Mike's post, he sure as hell will after reading it. He ticks all the boxes.
A worrying possibility, the Belgians would think they are pacifying us with a British manager BUT he still has zero experience and poor credentials to manage us, albeit a division three club.
I'd rather Hockaday, or whatever that bum was called who Leeds hired. Jason Euell seems the more natural choice, seeming we will be fielding the under 21 team.
The next manager will be that Hungarian non entity that RD tried to foist on us last time. Riga has gone right down in my estimation for dropping Solly, Henderson and Jackson for non footballing reasons
I sure as hell hope not. As for "right decision every time" Chris Powell still has the higher win % out of any of his ninth rate two bit managers.
