I think since Sam has been in he has instilled a different mentality into the team. Instead of believing they couldn't win, he has changed the players attitude to the way we play the game and the belief that we can compete with everyone in the league. It has taken a while for it to come to fruition but you can see the difference since he has been here. Obviously his signings have helped massively too. Similarly with the filth up the road, the Spanish tosser is doing the same for them. The point they got at the bin dippers was huge and a few weeks ago they would most definitely have caved in. It might be that the other fat tosser up the road, big Mike, had left it just too late to get rid of arguably the best manager the Sunderland fans have seen at Newcastle. 2 wins now and i don't give a flying **** where they come from "should" see us safe again.
I agree with this. As Sam said in the interview "We’ve climbed a huge mountain in recent months to get where we are." Six months ago, I was bellyaching about the first team being the only department of this club that was letting it down. They're looking a lot different - and a whole lot better - now. Credit where due.
You mean before the last dozen or so games? Out of the last 12 games, there's only 1 where I thought we weren't good enough over 90 minutes and that was Bournemouth. The squad had zero fitness when Allardyce took over and, as I said to tel on another thread, it must've take Sam a long time to get them fit. The manager should be getting them fit (Defoe has said similar in a recent interview about Advocaat) and Sam did that and has now got them playing as they should (since the end of January) Fitness has been our biggest problem at the start of the last few seasons (other than the dictatorship under Di Canio - which might have worked had he been given time but I'm glad he's gone!) and this season was no different - hopefully, with Sam in charge, that won;t be allowed to happen any more
Sam is the right manager for us. Sunderland fans love a tackle and hard work and that's what his sides are always about. First propper manager since Bruce and he was never going to work out because he was a Geordie. I just hope we stay up and Sam is given some money to spend, I could see us being out of the bottom half if he is allowed to bring the right players in. We are tough to beat and we do have some goal scorers in the team. Might be a cheeky £10 on us to win the league next year, imagine the grief that Leicester fan must have got on their forum this time last year when he said he was going to put £50 on them to win the league. He will be smiling now £72k richer.
