But where would the fun be then?!

It's been a season of fck ups, misgivings and what ifs. Only one for me is McClaren not keeping/never getting the job. But that's life, and if we go down - which we won't - then so be it.

A good point today and definitely one that I wasn't expecting. Add that to the Man City result and its been as much as we could have realistically hoped for really. Spurs are on fire at the moment and I really cant see us getting anything there so anything other than a win in the other two is essential.......................... still too little too late I fear.

Agree with the point that losing at Norwich will be our undoing.

Really bad loss that one... or was it losing at home to Bournemouth? :emoticon-0121-angry

Bournemouth were much better on the day and we were never close to drawing. But vs Norwich we were drawing and all we had to do was pass it around and waste time. Makes it worse that it was a handball and all. Still..I think if we win those two games we stay up. I don't think Norwich will get more than 4 points in the remaining fixtures. Mackems I don't see them getting more than 5 either. That said, we still have to win those games, especially beating Villa away...what are the odds if we couldn't beat them at home.

Mackem in peace. I think you guys will get another 7 points, which means providing we don't get a right royal thumping off one or two teams we will need 7 points to stay up on GD. Going to the wire this. Can't believe that our two clubs find ourselves in this position.

Think the best thing about yesterday was that it should give the players confidence that they can come back when down and keeps the 'run' going. The next 3 games are all massive. While some of you are saying that hopefully spurs are out of title race by then I think I prefer them to have pressure on and have to win. Spurs are not used to having to deal with that and I think we can benefit from that.

    Must be a newbie then.

    <whistle>

I think most fans of both Clubs aren't surprised at all that both Clubs have managed to torture their fans yet again by getting themselves into this position yet again.

Two good points in the last two games, reality is though if Sunderland win today then we're gone, they'd need one win to get to 36 points then. People are assuming we'll beat Palace and Villa but it's not as easy as that.

Pardew would love to relegate us, he'll have palace right up for that game and as bad as villa are we have one point from the last 30 available on the road. We need Leicester to have the league wrapped up before our game with Spurs.

Rafa should have come in after Chelsea, we'd have 3 more points and be favourites for safety then, unfortunately it wasn't and we've left it just too late.

Today is just as big, if not bigger than yesterday.

Not a Newbie Penfold, been around in the early 606 BBC days, just don't post as much as I used to. Maybe I chose the wrong words, I should have said both sets of fans are gut wrenched that yet another year of abject failure leads us to this. Both our clubs have an enviable fans base the likes of Stoke, Watford, Bournemouth, Norwich, West Brom and champions elect Leicester could only dream about. It sickens me that one of these great clubs will go down (could be both), One day, hopefully in my lifetime the north east will be the hotbed of football.......Well maybe in my grandson's lifetime.

Really? I thoroughly expected it! You're always in a relegation dogfight, and our owner doesn't give a **** and we appointed a walking disaster as manager at the start of the season. Not surprised at all tbh.

Excellent point yesterday, but why wait until the 2nd half to start playing? We can't do this anymore and need to get at Palace and Villa from the start!

This is probably gonna be very close, but I think win the next 2 and we stand a good chance of being safe, can't see Norwich getting 5 points from there last 4, and Sunderland have a tough run in too, much depends on whether Everton and Watford are still going for it or just let their seasons peter out.

No, I guessed, to be honest my comment was tongue in cheek.

Totally agree with your comments. Had to laugh at Leicester giving their fans"clackers" to help build up a noise and atmosphere at a recent game...and they're top of the table. Imagine the atmosphere at St James' or the S of L if either of our Clubs were top. I don't think you'd need clackers.

    17th - Norwich - 31 points - maximum remaning = 43
    18th - Sunderland - 30 points - maximum remaning = 45
    19th - Newcastle - 30 points - maximum remaning = 39

It's out of our hands now, need to win, win, win and then pray, pray, pray

    Heres to dreaming!

He has the touch of a rapist mate. I prefer Mitro and I don't think he's ready.

How is Perez starting at present? Surely Aarons has to come in now. We are handicapping ourselves at start of ganes through selection still.

Fair play to Rafa though he has them playing for the club now. All the more frustrating we're going down having retained super schteve so long. Benitez gets it here.

Reminds me of when Marc Antony was a Sunderland supporter and said
"Friends Sunderland supporters countrymen I come to bury Newcastle not to praise them "

I'd clap together two frozen dog turds (Great Dane) if we got a whiff of Europe again.
