Better than Randall at RB or Smith at Lb if we're resting Clyne and Moreno.

he could be on a fitness scheme like he put sturrdige on for all we know.

the new deal cannot be ignored but its a relatively low price for a guy to sit about and make up numbers.

I can't see it being to avoid him going elsewhere as i cannot see anyone ever taking him.

Agreed, better than Randall has a backup RB..
But is he good enough to get us where we want to get and keep us there?
Yes, he was part of the team that nearly won the league.. but that team also conceded 50+ goals..
I like the lad, he's a trier, but we've enough trier's in the team already, Lucas, Allen, Milner, Lallana, Henderson, what we need now is quality to go along with those 110%er's!

his value is to sit and be paid to be a club trained play on low relative wages.

we need four of them and he might only play 5 matches a year for that.

    simple really.

Until we have 4 club trained players better than him... well he'll be here.

I heard that he picked up a knock a couple of weeks back. Been training since so should see him soon I reckon.

I agree that he is better than smith and Randall.

Obviously I'm not a #neutral and always want us to win but if we do it will be a bittersweet victory.

I want Rafa to do well. I don't want Newcastle to be relegated.

...and we don't really have anything to play for in the league any more. I'd rather not get too distracted from the Europa.

So yes, I want to win, but it is sad Newcastle has to lose for us to win.

    I know....

But we are playing for 5th or 6th cos 7th is not enough for Europe next year unless Utd win the cup and go 4th.

    As of now.

5th is Utd maybe that will be citeh
6th is west ham spot from league cup
If Utd win cup then 7th gets spot from fa cup pass down

The 5th gets straight to europa groups.

If city in cl and finish 5th then I think there won't be a 3rd europa spot.

So...... as much as newkie need the points.... we need to win.

But the ****e we will send out.. well if newkie can't take us to cleaners they ought to be ashamed I suppose

I wouldn't mind Man Utd getting top 4 at Arsenal or City's expense

They're a nothing club and won't achieve anything with their current squad anyway, plus Van Gaal getting another year would be amazing

It would crush Arsenal or City though to miss out

Never going to happen though, Man Utd are more likely to miss out on Europe altogether

Crush city. City who have Guardiola coming in and endless money, it wouldn't bother them at all, they could still get the likes of Neymar.
Arsenal yes, but we have the opposite problem of Tottenham being a major attraction.

And if Newcastle win given that line up, Sunderland and Norwich will have issues. I think go with your strongest team ie the one that won against Everton as it will help the continuity that comes with winning and will help you in the match against Villareal.

    Can't really.

Have to think about sturridge for one.

In the end the CMs and sturridge have to change. I see zero reason to change cbs at this point.

    Or gk either...

I should have said as far as possible. Still good luck for the weekend and next Thursday. It will be hard on Newcastle's fans if they go down, but it is their DNA to bounce back quickly, and if Rafa stays it would test his undoubted abilities in an interesting manner.

Based on our previous home games we will score 4, just depends on how many they manage to score. If it is 5 we could be in trouble

Somehow I doubt this will be the case.

    1-1 probably.
