I haven't heard anyone in the remain camp suggesting that foreign workers should be thrown out and it's not something I would support either. Future immigration is what I would like to see completely under our goverment's control. But as you know immigration isn't the major factor for me anyway. It's just a part of the bigger picture of our sovereign powers being returned.
Cheers. I haven't heard anyone suggest that either, just thought it's a relatively easy thing to be clear about, especially as I think a lot of people will be voting with immigration as their top, or one of their top, issues. May surprise you to learn that immigration has become an important issue for me. Of course I support the idea of free movement within the EU, but it has become a massive issue for so many people that clearly something has to be done because even I can see it threatens the social fabric. I just want any new rules to apply equally to rich French city workers (and commuters back to Paris) as unskilled Romanian casual workers.
Apparently Labour's London mayoral candidate is a Muslim too. Who knew? http://www.theguardian.com/politics...-cameron-after-comments-on-sadiq-khan-in-pmqs Disgraceful Tory tactics at PMQs, reeking of Lynton Crosby. They must be desperate. I think I'd actually quite like to see George Galloway as mayor.
Stupid tactics from the Tories. Stupid Labour MPs failing to make the distinction between racism and Islamophobia. Galloway? Don't even joke about it Strolls, a simultaneously pathetic and nasty individual, an embarrassment. It's a pretty crappy choice for Londoners, bad luck.
'Racist' is easier to shout than 'Islamophobe', I suppose - half the syllables. Yes, it's an uninspiring bunch to choose from. I'll probably vote for the Green candidate, whoever that is. Looks like Khan has got it in the bag though.
Some key points that show Gove hasn't got a clue about the future - or indeed the present - regarding the UK and the EU: http://infacts.org/porkies-gove-uses-build-brexit-case/
I think that is because as a nation we don't really understand exactly what this thing is about It's a PR exercise IMO to strike a better deal behind the scenes with the EU If I thought there was a real chance of it working today I would vote exit but I honestly think it's far too late to recover. I am guilty of exactly what I slag off but I am honest enough to admit that. I have made a better life for me and my family by splitting my time between the south of France and the U.K. I couldn't of done that without being British I simply do not trust the UK governance who have repeatively been shown that they work generally for themselves. I stress again that in contrast that I see real community in France and things get done. I just don't see that in my home country anymore I stress again that the difference is clear over here governments do work for the people and spin is secondary The U.K. Is set up for big business to really exploit and I simply do not agree with that politic because they will always put money first before people ... That is where we are lost In the UK a household is even built on the same ideals ... First thing people who own a house in the UK comments or thinks about is how much is it worth?
I meant to say that I hadn't heard anyone in the leave camp suggest deportations. I think we're in agreement on this. I'd like to see an Australian style points system for future immigration.
QT should be interesting tonight, 3 out and 2 remains on the panel, one of them Paddy Ashdown. It's going to be a massacre
I read it the way you meant it Col. I just think it would be good if they could make their position clear, because they haven't said anything about EU migrants already here to the best of my knowledge. I've just done the Aussie points test online (or the initial assessment which allows you on to stage 2) got exactly the pass mark but I don't think I would be allowed to apply, too old. Unless I got some mug to sponsor me, or got in touch with my long lost relatives there. ****ers turned me down for a work visa when I was 25 as well, when I was about to go travelling there and wanted some extra dosh. I worked anyway of course, in Freemantle when they staged the Americas Cup, the most boring spectator sport on earth, which meant the bars were packed, and needing staff.....
Liam Fox, lets the taxpayer fund him to get a medical qualification, practices as a GP for less than 10 years (for which the taxpayer also shells out and would have been less if he had been successful in his first bid to become an MP) and lets the public pay him for being a politician for the next 24 years and counting. A shining example of the enterprise culture. Which he demonstrated by having to repay £22k worth of expenses claimed to fund his mortgage. But he still claims for car journeys of less than 100 metres. And was renting out his London home while the taxpayer coughed up for him to rent another one. Resigned as Defence Secretary for blagging one of his mates (who he had also paid out of his expenses) onto official trips (actually it's much dodgier than that, a long and dirty story). Somehow during this career of public (or at least publically paid) service he has managed to become a millionaire. A leech, a parasite, a sponger, zero credibility. Sorry, he's another one who makes my blood boil. I don't expect all politicians to be permanently cleaner than clean or never make mistakes, or sacrifice their ability to enrich themselves by having other (declared) jobs, but there are limits.
He was also an SBS reservist. I respect him for that, but I just find him annoying, always interrupting people and acting as if he just can't be wrong. I thought he was the best debater last night, but he got ravaged by a large section of the audience.
