Why does everyone keep looking for ulterior motives in every little thing at the moment? Robertson gave an interview explaining why we keep possession. "Was he slagging the strikers off or Bruce?" Neither. End of.
I didn't suggest he was doing either. However as he was discussing the fact the fans got on their backs and was explaining why they should calm down, I do suspect he was irked by the fans getting on the players' backs.
It was all in his body language, didn't you see? He looked at a jaunty angle and he had his arms crossed. Joke
That statement is well below your stature Peter. It doesn't make sense. However, some of your moot points beg a reply. "Possession Football" and "Closing Down" are what is killing the game. The only way to beat it is to have someone who can 'dribble', beat his marker drag a defender and put the ball in to an unmarked forward. We haven't had a player of this quality all season although Snoddy does like to go forward when he has the ball. Robertson has shown great signs of what he can do and I have seen him hundreds of times tear down the wing, flick the ball inside and run on for the return pass only to see it heading back to the goalkeeper or across field. He would be sensational with a 'partner' who could work with him. I agree that Jelly and Long were showing signs of a very good partnership but that went pear-shaped when the 12 million came in. We are overdue for a hero. Someone who has 'presence' up front and can supply as well as score goals. Could be next season (I hope) but meanwhile, "Hull Crabs" continue to ply their trade as only they know how.
The reason for all the sideways and back passing is to keep possession, defending the one point we start each game with. If Robertson is not happy about the booing he should run up the pitch and kick the ball into the goal, like he did on Tuesday. The fans will be singing his name from the stands ( seats ) The end.
Clucas and Robertson work together. Snodgrass was working well with Akpom against Reading. Hernandez and Diomande can work better than Hernandez on his own. I think the players were more attacking against Reading. Davies was immense again. Meyler was nearest to the Reading scorer but he was much shorter than him so I don't know who should have been marking him. Huddlestone is coming good again.
What you say is true but it doesn't work like that any more Balkan. Robertson is frustrated. He is trying to turn defence into attack at every opportunity but has nobody to work with. It has to be something to do with the tactics and 'bonding' with his team-mates. Look at the Eredivisie in Holland. When Altidore and Bony were playing there they were scoring for fun. They came to the EPL and Altidore couldn't buy a goal with Sunderland whilst Bony was scoring 1 in 2 for Swansea. Altidore goes back to the Mickey Mouse League whilst Bony is transferred to the 'quality rich' Manchester City where his scoring rate drops to 1 in 5. There used to be an adage that "A team of stars don't necessarily make a star team"! We will continue to do nothing without some strength up front and attacking midfielders.
More's the pity Peter but somewhere down the line somebody at Hull City is going to have to make a 'quantum leap' into the transfer market if they want to progress. Some are estimating the crowds at 12,000 next season (if we stay in Championship) which is appalling.
The Rhodes deal was apparently done until Blackburn moved the posts, the Gray deal was apparently done until the Allams moved the posts, so really we just wouldn't buy Gray!
Its not just City with poor crowds though. Reading had their lowest for Donkeys years on Tuesday. I was surprised by how many empty seats there was at Old Trafford last night. Newcastle v Man City was also uite low for them. Maybe people are getting disgruntled all over the country.
We are in the top four for points in the Championship but I think our attendances are in the bottom half.
They quoted him, seemed to suggest they did. Must have just lifted the quotes from the club interview?
