I have to admit that he hasn't lived up to the high expectation. Part of the proof is that he hasn't been able to make himself indispensable in one key position, resulting in him being regularly moved around (jack of all trades, mastering none). I also thought he would become our team leader (in the Kompany style), but it just hasn't happened.
Once again, there is a good player in there, we're just not seeing him rise to the hopes and expectations that we need at the back and in leading the team and the club.

I'd put Chris Samba and Anton Ferdinand below him just in recent years, but there's no denying that despite being by all accounts a nice bloke he's not very good, even in the Chumpionshit.

Has been a liability this season and a major reason for such a bad league position. I would make Hall captain next season and get rid of Nedum Perch Henry Hoillett Hill Phillips Faurlin Green Tosczer Konch and bring young hungry and quick players
that want to play at the highest level in August 2017!

He's a better RB. But not as good as Bosingwa or even Simpson. He's not as bad at CB as Samba or Rio or possibly Anton. As he can play different positions almost adequately I think he's good to have as back up on the Bench, but he needs a Clnt nearby to keep him awake.

Have you forgotten Hughes and the all too many changes he made Pat? You'll throw the baby out with the bath water .

Inclined to agree with you Oslo. Provided on the right money of course. When is his contract up?

How can I forget Hughes but we have got more talented players who are on loan. The players I've listed are in decline and the only one I didn't want to list is Faurlin indeed with a rest and a pre season he might come back fitter and stronger if he does he should stay but the rest aren't up to it it's like flogging dead horses Hoillett and Phillips should have been top players in this league but they continue to be totally inept so why waste time trying to persevere and I'm sure JFH won't keep them but getting offers is going to be a problem!

Agree Green, Toscer, and Konch should be let go. Also Traore, Caulker, Sandro, and Fer, the last 3 may raise a bit. Wouldn't want to see many more of the regulars go.

Think he's out of contract end of season so he could well be off.

    Awful captain.

Should never have got rid of Joey Barton. <whistle>

I might be wrong but JB has won promotion from the Championship with Newcastle United and QPR each season immediately after relegation and is threatening to do the same with Burnley this year. We're worse off without the fellow.

The only really decent centre back we have is Clint imo. But he's too old.
Hall has looked worse and worse as the season has gone on imo.
I think Ned ia no better or worse than any of the other centre backs we have.

Still pining for Barton Sku? Your devotion to your man is as touching as ever.

Glossing over the flagrant misuse of the word “fact”, has the OP forgotten such gems we’ve had in defence such as Zesh Rehman and Bob Malcolm? I can only assume that he watches on those same dodgy streams that they have in Scandinavia, as I can see no other way that Os still persists with the belief that Ohouha is a right back. Surely a basic requirement in that position is to occasionally close down your opponent sufficiently to stop him crossing? Onouha’s poor starting position and lack of concentration and general awareness rarely make this possible. I do, however, totally agree with the underlying premise of the OP.

The same weaknesses stop him being a top quality centre back, his natural athleticism can’t only save him all the time. Onouha is a confidence player. Every time we push him out to cover as right back and he gets exposed, his confidence takes a knock and he struggles for weeks to recover.

Signing a reliable centre back who can organise the defence and lead the team should be top of our shopping list this summer.

Clint on one leg is still our best defender, as he showed against Derby and Brentford.

IMO his concentration lapses and positioning failures make him a far greater liability in our box at CB than outside it often enough at RB Roller. And the Sky cover when it comes to picture quality far exceeds the view at LR!
