There's not a lot left is there? Land Rover is a typically British marque, but it's now made by the panfaces. Even things that are made here are generally just foreign parts being assembled in this country. Most of the food, even stuff we can grow here, gets imported nowadays.
My mate loves his merc. Can't beat german build you know. When we bought the missis' merc the guy told us the CLK's were actually made in Brazil. I didn't have the heart to tell him. Until he mentioned it again.
Even the 9 million quid Tory propaganda anti- Brexit leaflet was printed in Germany - explaining to us staying in the EU will safeguard British jobs we're primarily a nation of brainwashed consumers that work in selling **** services that we all could do without
I don't know of anything that i own being British. The clothes i own are all imports unless my wife makes it and then the material will probably have been imported? Even down to the food i eat, its probably imported, unless its certain stuffs that are from our home farms and markets.
I have a Lotus seven all British, the F1 teams are mainly based in Britain and use British technology.
I remmember the big saying in the seventies buy British I don't think I have anything British. Maybe my oak furniture I'm not sure Ohh just remmember Sheffield stainless steel cutlery My uncle Tommy bought us for our wedding in 1974
Yes, things have changed a lot since then though. I was a quality control inspector (later senior inspector) for a British firm from about 1975 till 1987 when I walked out. We made parts for e.g. IBM, GEC, Rolls Royce, etc. When the Jap firms began coming to Europe, we were a big attraction for them. Toshiba for example set their entire European standards on what we did. Matsashita (National Panasonic) and Mitsubishi were two others who couldn't get enough of us. But by the mid-'80s, British quality control was shifting emphasis from people to systems. Wrongly in my view, which is why I packed it in. By 2001, that firm narrowly missed closure, and has changed hands two or three times since then. Today, the only British articles I own are antiques. I wouldn't touch them with a barge-pole!
