He watched the game and is an ex-professional who won countless titles and 3 European cups, i think we can trust his judgement rather than my mate who was there and probably drunk.

Just a personal view mate, I got bored with this season ages ago. But if there was any lack of effort (as opposed to lack of talent and organisation) the paying punter has every reason to be aggrieved.

Just got home from the game.

First 45 minutes we played quite well and had a few shots, but without being spectacular. Brighton came into the game attacking wise from about 40 minutes. Then on 45+1 our Captain lost his head and gave away a free kick on the edge of the box. 1-0 Brighton.

Second half, the longer it went on the worse we got. Quite poor although we did have a couple of chances. We really have a soft underbelly and no spine to the team. Talented players with zero leadership on the pitch and little fighting spirit when things get tough. The effort is there, at times, from most of them, but it needs more than that.

For me the biggest need in the summer is to find a real captain, but that may be easier said than done.

Oh and Washington looked lost and had little service, and playing Henry on the right wing again in the first half, seemed a strange thing to do.

Cheers for the mini-report mate. I think I made the right choice in eventually rejecting attending this game.

Another game goes by without a goal from Luongo,Henry or Faurlin. I'm sorry but this is a huge problem, god only knows how many minutes they've played between them this season, and they still haven't got a single goal to show for it ! You have to have your central midfielders chipping in with goals throughout the season, this has to be assessed before next season starts.I don't know if it's just me,but I just can't see what Luongo brings to the party, from what I've seen of him this season the guy's toilet !

Fair and valid points. I can't remember the last time we had a marauding midfielder who scored ten + goals in a season. Now we have at least three who haven't scored one between them.

Every time I see him play, I say similar. People who have seen him play a lot more than me in the flesh keep assuring me he is a good buy. I am still not sure.

One of the best chants ever, which doubled as an instruction to management:
"Take off Karl Connolly, bring on Stuart Wardley...."

Tend to agree with this summary. Hasn't this been our problem all season? We have not got the most talented players have we? Whether it's lack of effort or skill, I'm afraid JFH reminds me of one of those ancient day alchemists. A lot of our newer requisitions have been acquired from lower divisions and I'm afraid he will struggle to turn this leaden bunch into gold!

It seems to me that the whole central midfield is playing too deep and the defence not pushing up quick enough thus leaving the likes of Luongo not able to be effective in the opponents half. I think it's a tactical issue rather than any individual. I agree that the central midfielders are not contributing. It's not good enough that they are not scoring any goals.

It seemed a weird set up to me Ned and Henry down the right, Hoilett on the left and Phillips mooching about wherever he fancied.
We were the better team until they scored though.

Really not happy with the result at all and my son confirmed we were very good first half but you do not lose to Fulham and then lose by four to Brighton .
The club is a disaster and 14th now looks like I was on the money
Yet again another French player smashed us last night
    When will people understand

Bloody 'ell Ellers, he's only had a handful of starts - it's a bit soon to be giving up on him! For some reason, the rare starts he gets seem to be exclusively in away games, whilst Polter starts at home. If they are going to be rotated, I would expect the reverse of this. Sussex's point about the central midfield playing too deep is a good one - Washington seems to me to be the kind of player that either needs a partner up front or needs midfield players to get up alongside him to link with. The glimpses I have seen of Washington in home game sub appearances lead me to believe that he will be a good player if used correctly.

    Agree completely

We have a player in Washington who was scoring for fun at Peterborough, and will most likely be going to the European Championships. He's a proper goalscorer, and we need to be playing to his strengths.

I'm so sick and tired of seeing us misuse talented players and then witnessing them thrive elsewhere. I remember Jamie Cureton as a prime example of this, leaves us and then scores 25 goals in the Championship for Colchester.

Plus we knew he is a slow starter, he has been at his previous clubs. He'll be even slower if he doesn't get game time and these pointless games are exactly the time he should be playing.
