Phil Hay @PhilHayYEP 1h1 hour ago Quick on the draw after today's season ticket announcement, Sky Bet make Leeds United 7/2 to reach the play-offs next season.
The mad cap **** is going to gamble everything on a last go at getting as much cash out of the clubs fans as he can. To get top six he needs to keep cook and two or three others, get eight or nine decent signings done... Get a decent coach..... Not interfere and hope. To get the quality required he needs to spend £20-£30mill... If it works fine... If it doesn't we will be fecked. Big money players and liabilities to the season ticket holders... This is the football owners equivalent of going all in at poker... Madness.
I suspect ur fishing. The liability Cellino is risking running up with this refund scam is a complete gamble. If it works fine. If it doesn't then we are gong to be in a Ridsdale size mess. I hope I regret not buying a 16/17 season ticket but the bookies have it right we have a 30% of making play offs.
Most the refund will cost is 4m. I suspect all the players will be on a bonus for reaching play offs. So if play offs are reached no season ticket repayment to make but bonuses to be paid to players and vice verse if play offs not reached
So that's £4mill plus the transfer fees and salaries of the players we need. Newcastle, villa Norwich/Sunderland will all be paying big bucks.... Plus the teams that don't go up in the playoffs will push on again. Forest will be clear of ffp. I don't mind a punt but Cellino is really gong all in.
If it gets us into the Prem, Cellino will be a legend. A mad, eccentric, paranoid, bit of a nutter, legend
If we are 7/2 to make the play offs. Wee're one of the favourites for the play offs then. There won't be many teams with odds that short.
If it doesn't we will be in admin. I remember when risking it all to live the dream meant trips to the San Siro not Gillingham.
The trick is to place a bet at the longest odds not the shortest. We will in the region of 20/1 for promotion by July 31st.
F**k me, have you never heard the saying 'one swallow does not a summer make'? You ain't going anywhere on one win, fellas.
And despite what others say, next season will be a really good opportunity for clubs like us to get promotion. Newcastle/Sunderland will be going up imo. I cannot see them not returning straight away however I think only one of em will be relegated and I'd probably say that'd be Newcastle. Sunderland will just avoid it, Big Sam is decent at that end of the table in the prem. Aston Villa will be lucky to not be doing a double relegation to League 1 and Norwich don't have any players that particularly scare me even at champ level. I also doubt any of the teams coming from league 1 will continue any of their momentum and will be mid table to fighting relegation. I'm hoping Boro and Burnley go up this season, they'll just be stronger next if they don't. Brighton are a weird team and I expect Dunk to be off if they don't go up. Personally, if the likely happens. The main challengers next season will be Newcastle, Hull, Derby and Sheff Wed and there is always an unlikely candidate up there. I think next season will be one of the weakest championships for a while.
I will, but would feel sorry for anyone who lost their cash in the process. To compound potential failure by giving huge refunds to fans is the economics of the the madhouse from the club. Looks great on paper but if we fail again we will have given away cash to put it right in the longer term...
