David Bernstein and Mervyn King have resigned from Villa's board with immediate affect, saying their positions are untenable. They've only joined (with Brian Little) a month ago.
He's probably annoyed that none of them have beat up their girlfriends or gone on strike and refused to play for their club. Modern footballers know nothing of how to behave professionally like our Stan...
Personally, I wouldn't do my shoelaces up in a carpark if I knew Collymore was in the same county, but hats off to him there, he's nailed the malaise of the overpaid mercenary footballer on the head.
They've also scored more goals than anyone in their division, and also let in fewer than anyone else !!
For anybody who is interested, Ferriby will be away in the first leg of their play off campaign to (probably, pending on the final table) either Boston or Nuneaton, to be played on the 8th. Should they reach the final, it will be played on the 14th at The Eon Visual Media Stadium. Should get good numbers as City will be waiting to finish their own campaign. Get yourself down there.
Just speaking of non-league football, Parma were promoted from the amateur league Serie D at the weekend. For this first season in the amateur league after reformation, they sold over 9,000 season tickets and for the game when they clinched promotion they had over 15,000 in attendance.
That's mightily impressive. I think FC United of Manchester average around 2500 a game, Hereford still get about 2000 fans. Some good support in non league at the moment. Has Hull United's relegation been confirmed yet?
I was supposed to meet him for a drink in the new year and he couldn't make it and we havent had a chance since. There may be a clue in that.
